Barbie Wednesday

In 1995 Mattel released the first set of dolls that were designed after a movie. The Gone With The Wind collection was an amazing collection of dolls! I remember standing at Wal Mart looking at the lit glass case filled with those dolls. My favorite of course was the beautiful Scarlet O'Hara in her red velvet dress.

Since then Mattel has come out with many film Barbies. It was a wonderful idea for Mattel as both Barbie and non Barbie fans want to collect these lovely dolls. Here is a Lord of the Rings Barbie and Ken set.

I always liked the James Bond gift set. One of these days it will find it's way into my collection along with the LOTR collection pictured above! Hehehe!!!!!

I believe Mattel's most popular collection ever would have to be The Wizard Of Oz collection. Mattel released the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, Glinda the Good Witch and Dorothy. There is a 1995 and 1996 version of Dorothy. The 1995 version is worth more due to the slight changes in costume and the wording on the box.

New this year to the collection is the Wicked Witch of the East Barbie! Love her striped socks!!!

In 2006 Mattel came out with an updated version of the dolls adding the Witch's Guard and flying monkey.

Also new to the collection was the Wicked Witch of the West! I am planning to add her to my collection soon!!!!!! I think she is beautiful.

Here are pictures of the 2006 collection.

I will be getting my collection out for the upcoming Wonderful Wizard Of OZ Gala!!!!

Just recently announced is the newest dolls added to the collection of film inspired dolls,
these AWESOME TWILIGHT DOLLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a HUGE Twilight fan so this is really exciting for me!! They are to be released around the time the next movie comes out. Which is November 20th.

Thank you for visiting us today! Sign ups are still open for The Wonderful Wizard Of OZ Gala!!! Just let us know and we will add you to the list!!!!!

When I started collecting Barbies I tried to stick with the film ones and Dorothy and Glinda at one point.

I've still kept my GWTW Scarlett (in the green dress) but it is the one without Barbie's face.

I've told my friend about the Twilight dolls as she collects Barbies and like you loves Twilight.

The Wicked Witch dolls are awesome! I LOVE them! I am blown away by the Twilight dolls - how cool. Did they do Titanic dolls? That would be cool... Harry Potter? I would think that would be lovely too!

Those barbies are ALL absolutely fabulous! I'm awestruck by the detail on the flying monkeys and witch's guard! I don't even like them, LOL! They scared the CRAP outta me when I was a little kid, LOL! That has got to be the prettiest witch I've ever seen. Did you know that the lady who played the "Wicked Witch of the West" in the "Wizard of Oz" was actually a beautiful woman!? I had seen a news excerpt done on her and the photos of her were gorgeous. Unfortunately, her very unique features were unmistakable associated with that role and it ruined her future film career. Too bad they didn't have royalties back then the way they do now, that woman would've been wealthy!

These dolls are all so unique. I LOVE GWTW and I don't know how I missed those when they came out.I always loved Scarlett in the green dress made from her mother's drapes ( I think Mammy called them 'Portieres').

I write a leave a response when I like a article on a website or I have something to
add to the discussion. Usually it is caused by the sincerness displayed in the article I looked at.

And after this post "Barbie Wednesday". I was excited enough to drop a thought :) I actually do have
2 questions for you if you don't mind. Could it be just me or does it seem like a few of the remarks appear like written by brain dead people? :-P And, if you are writing at additional online social sites, I would like to follow you. Would you make a list all of your communal sites like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?

The other day, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a 25 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation.
My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views.
I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!
