Calling All April Birthdays and My Creative Space

Hello friends!
It's time again to ask if you have a birthday in April please let us know and we will share your day and a link to your blog on our sidebar.

This week in my creative space I have still been playing with Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe paper line. It's so vintage and colorful! I love it!
This little box shelf was a flea market find that I have had for awhile now and when I saw it this week I knew it would look cute with this paper.

I made it so that it would be sweet in a little girl's room or great in a craft room with the vintage looking embroidery label on the front.

I mixed Prima and vintage millinery flowers along the back of the shelf.

To glue my paper to the shelf I used my favorite glue stick. It's a super strong embellishment glue stick that I highly recommend for all your craft projects. It's by Pioneer brand. You can find it here at amazon or at Michaels craft store.

This cute box shelf is listed here in our etsy shop!

Doesn't this sweet card make you want to wish upon a star?
I just love that the little angels are stitching the stars!
Can you believe this is a Christmas card?

Twyla on Tuesday

Hello friends!
I'd like to introduce you to my husband.
This May we will be married 32 years,
1979, a long time ago.
We were so young, a lot to learn.
He took me to McDonald's our first evening of married life.
Yes, I'm still married to him :)

He's a man of simple tastes.  He still prefers hamburgers
and hot dogs to fancy meals.  We've shared a lot of fun
and laughs over the years.
He puts up with my yarn spilling from baskets all over the house.

I almost didn't marry him because it meant going to
Germany with him in the service and leaving
my family behind.
Turns out it was the smartest thing I ever did.

Thanks for visiting today!
Wishing you much happiness!

Kindness

If there is any kindness I can show,
or any good thing I can do to any fellow being,
let me do it now, and not deter or neglect it,
as I shall not pass this way again.
~ William Penn

This would be a great day to tell someone how
much they mean to you.

To you, our dear friends and readers, we
appreciate and cherish each and every one of you.

Have a blessed Sunday.

My Creative Space

Hello friends!
This week in my creative space I have been scrapbooking!
I created this layout using sweet photos of my Mom when she was 2 years old. Wasn't she cute? I love her little polka dot dress!

I am using Emma's Shoppe paper line by Crate Paper. This was my first time using Crate Paper and I was very impressed! I knew when I saw the beautiful vintage patterns and colors that I had to have this line!

I knew as soon as I saw this line that it would be perfect for my families black and white photos.
I always enjoy working with black and white photos so that I can use what ever paper I want with out having to make sure the colors match!

This line is brand new and will probably sell out quickly. You can ask your local scrapbook store or you can find the line here on amazon.

Dreams are a Wish Notebook

Hello friends!
I am sharing another altered composition book today.
The theme of this book is, 'Dreams are a wish your heart makes'.
The perfect journal to write down goals and dreams.

Using a sweet vintage French girl image and a white lace doily, makes this journal extra special.

The title comes from a stamp by Crafty Secrets. I also used a beautiful new deep edge punch by Martha Stewart.

The inside cover features a decorative kraft envelope by Maya Road to hold extra ephemera.
I also cover the back cover as well.

On the first page I always ink the edges to "age" the book and add a stamped image.

This journal is for sale here in our esty shop!

Twyla on Tuesday

I was all packed to go.

I was moving here.

This was going to be my favorite room to hang out in.

I was going to sit here and knit.
I was really looking forward to that.

From the first time I saw this house on Jan. 1st, I just
knew it was going to be mine.
I entered twice a day every day until Feb. 18th.
I thought my chances were great.

I had high hopes right up till Saturday night.
I'd like to congratulate the lovely family that
is moving into the HGTV dreamhome.

Have a wonderful day!

Dyed Seam Binding Tutorial

Hello friends!
Today I am sharing a tutorial for how I easily dye seam binding to use in my crafting.

For this you will need:

Seam Binding, I recommend Hug Snug (found here)
Distress Ink
spray bottle
water
heat gun, embossing gun or blow dryer

First Start by cutting off strips of seam binding. I cut several sized strips at a time.

Now pick out the Distress Ink color you want. I am using Old Lipstick.
The reason why I use Distress ink is that it has great coverage and the ink reacts with water, meaning it's not a permanent ink. So when we add water the ink will spread and cover your ribbon.

Now take your ink pad and rub it across the ribbon. If you want a dark color rub the ink across both sides. If you want a lighter more antique color just rub it across one side. As you rub you will have patches that are darker or lighter, that is fine. It will spread and I really like the effect it has.

Now spray your ribbon with water. I am using a mini mister, but any spray bottle will work. Spray until the color starts to spread, turning the ribbon over and over until it's fully saturated. Now you can ball it up in your hand if you want it to have a wrinkled, antique look.

Now use your heat gun to dry the seam binding. You can also air dry.

It has a beautiful shine when it dries!

Now it's ready to use in your craft projects! The seam binding makes the prettiest bows!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and try it!

Remember This Layout

Hello friends!
Here is what I have been working on this week. A layout featuring a photo of my Grandmother when she was younger.

I had so much fun with this! I loved this paper!
It's called Hazel from the Stella and Rose collection by My Mind's Eye.
The Iron Gate design along the side is from a Sizzix die by Tim Holtz.

Velvet flowers and swirled jewels were by Prima.
The Vintage Button Card stamp is by Papertrey Ink.

Come back tomorrow for a tutorial on how I create dyed seam binding!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Lindsey

Yo Yo Fun!

Hello friends!
Today I am sharing a few more yo yo tags.
I love buying vintage reproduction fabric even though I have no sewing machine skills, so I started making yo yos.
They are super easy to make and I always knew that someday I would find a way to incorporate them into my paper crafting.
 Now I have!

I also love creating tags!
I use 3 x 6 tags or #8 size.
They are fun little works of art!

I always start each tag by coloring the background with Distress Ink.
I then add stamps or patterned paper.

I recently purchased 3 stamp sets from My Mind's Eye,
because they had great vintage designs. When I got home I was amazed!
They are the best quality clear stamps I have ever used! And I have tried a lot! I always get a great clean image. They also aren't sticky, which I don't like with some of my others.

The 3 sets I bought are from My Mind's Eye's new Stella and Rose collection.
You can find one of the sets here on amazon. You should also be able to find or request them at your local scrapbook store.

These tags are all listed here in my etsy shop!

Wishing you all a lovely day, Lindsey
