My first and true love in the world of vintage Barbie's are the house's and cases. When I was very little my Mom, my brother and I were garage saling as we always did in the summer and I got my first vintage barbie house.
See I've been a garage saler all my life! I wasn't even in school yet when we found this!

I LOVE this house. I had so many wonderful years of playing with it.
The one you see here is not my original. It's roof had been ripped off and taped back on with no furniture when we bought it.

This one I bought at a flea market a few years back with it's original furniture.

Barbie's Country Living Home came out in 1973. I love the bright bold colors and cute patterns!

The Skipper in the blue bathing suit is A New Living Skipper which came out in 1970.

I love the physchdelic feel to this home. Kinda of an odd mix! Country and physchdelic but it works somehow.

Back when I played with this house it had bright pink furniture in it!

Notice how oily Barbie's face looks? This is grease. Not sure what causes the problem but it is very common in the older Barbie's.

This is one of Mom's original Barbie's. She is a Twist N' Turn Barbie. Her face has discolored over the years and has a few spots of the dreaded Green disease!

I love that this physchdelic country home having western style doors! I would like to know who designed these!

I hope you enjoyed visiting me this Barbie Wednesday.

Hey Twyla,
Where is the metal case with the 2 poodles on the front? Spencer and Muffin and Alfie all asked me to inquire. It was from the mid sixties.

Uh, the western style doors? Yeah, we had those in my house in 1973. My dad put them in and was not very handy so we were not allowed to push on them and let them swing because were afraid they might fall off. I can remember yelling at my friends not to let the saloon doors swing. Thanks for reminding me of that, Lindsey! And, I loved seeing your Barbie house!

My barbie's faces from the late
80's are sweaty and greasy too. I just thought it was the way I was keeping them.

LOVE the barbie house. I had a barbie town home. It was 3 or 4 stores, all open, with a pink elevator. I had so much fun with that!

Your 70's like country home is so fun! Love the Western doors :)

I had a different version of the Barbie dream house-probably from about 1965-thanks for bringing back those wonderful memories of simpler times as a pre-teen

Congrats to Your award!! You deserve it! Love that Barbie house too! Do You know, I think Amy Butler must have been playing with that house too because that wallpaper with dots is exactly like a fabric pattern of hers!

Thanks for the visit!

I just stumbled upon your blog and I have found a "kindred spirit"! I love Barbie and still have my very first one, delivered by Santa, but bought at Garlands Drug store in 1965! I never had a house but my friend had one just like that one.

I still collect Barbies and have probably 50-60 of them.

Blessings

Linda

I had that exact same house! The memories it brings up for me to see it again, and in such details! I'm a year late but thanks for posting this!

Thank you so much for posting such detailed pictures of the furniture. I found this Barbie house at a thrift store, but it didn't have furniture. Now, I'm trying to recreate the furniture in plastic canvas.

Your photos will help me keep it as close to the original as possible.

Thanks again!
