Barbie Wednesday

Hello friends!
Today I am sharing a few of my vintage Barbie patterns.

A couple of the patterns still have small pieces of fabric still inside, waiting to be cut for a Barbie dress.

Throughout the years you can always count on Barbie needing a pattern for a wedding dress!

I admire the women that had the patience to sew such small detailed clothes!

These images would be great for tags, so feel free to print them!

Have a lovely day, Lindsey

Love these patterns! I can remember Mama making me a Barbie dress, but she made her own pattern. She said it would be the only one she would be making because they were so tedious to make, and it WAS the only one!She was glad to sew for me, but not for Barbie. I especially like the wedding dresses, plainly from different eras of fashion.

Oh, what memories your patterns stir up! I had a great aunt that was very special to our family when I was a girl. Every time we visited Aunt Nettie she would have a shoebox full of Barbie clothes which she had hand-sewn just for me. My Barbie was the best-dressed doll in my circle of friends.

thanks for sharing the patterns!! Brings back fond memories of my aunt Barbara who made a whole barbie wardrobe for my niece (in 1982)including hand knit sweaters and purses!! Jackie still has it all (in pristine condition-she took care of her stuff) for a someday daughter (she has a son now!!)

My great aunt was a seamstress. She made me a dress for my Barbie, and said it was one of the most difficult things she had ever sewn. But, I still enjoy looking at the patterns, even though I can barely sew! Thanks for the post. Hugs, Kathleen

Those patterns are so great, Lindsey! I don't think I have ever seen any of them.
I always love Barbie Wednesday!

I used to love sewing doll clothes. Barbie clothes were too much of a challenge for me. My hands being rather large just seemed to get in the way. I did sew a bridal gown for her, I wish I had kept it.
I love seeing the patterns. Barbie probably has more clothes than any other doll in the world.

My Mom was one of those women.
She'd patiently work to get Barbie
all put togehter.

More patience than I would have.
Great memories.

(grin) I have all of those, and a few dozen more, plus scans from old craft magazines and books. I sew for all of my dolls - from Monster High to My Size Barbie - and I love the range of Barbie patterns, from the late 50s to today. They're fun to look at, even if you don't sew.

Like any craft endeavor, it takes time and patience and failure, but sewing for Barbie is fun. Now those new Monster High dolls - they're a challenge ! But once you've sewn four darts in 3.5 inches of fabric, you don't doubt your skills as much !

Sherry has the right idea. Ifinally figured out how to do these easier, hand sewing. Now that I've figured it out, we don't have anymore Barbies in the house!
