Sugar Kissed Garland

Today I wanted to show you a fun little garland that is quite easy to make. This is not an original idea. A few years ago Anna Marie Horner showed a tutorial for a felt garland using all different colored felt. I loved it so much that I always intended to make one.
When Lindsey and I chose the color scheme for our Christmas crafts I decided to do this garland in red and pink.
I used a spool of thread to draw circles onto the felt with a pencil. It depends on how long you want to make your garland how many circles you'll need. Keep in mind that they are doubled. I found that two pink and two red pieces of felt were plenty to make an almost 7' length.

I used three strands of DMC to do the blanket stitch around each circle. The colors I used were Red 321 to stitch around the pink circles and Pink 3689 to stitch around the red circles.

I connected all the circles with a long strand of doubled thread pulled through the center of each so that they would be free to turn. You could also just whip stitch each one together.

I hope that you've enjoyed this tutorial today. Be sure to come back tomorrow for more ideas and another give away!
Have a beautiful day!
Twyla and Lindsey

Good morning, girls! ♥

I loved this as soon as I saw it in your original post! I guess I must have a thing for garlands. ☺
A spool of thread makes a perfectly sized little circle-doesn't it?! I just love circles. Twyla, do you have any tips for cutting them out? I used to be able to cut them out fairly well but now? Hmmm...

Another wonderful idea courtesy of the Crazy Crafters...perhaps you should think about a name change to the Creative Crafters!
Thanks again!

It's so cute! I wish I could sew small things like this again. I use to love to do embroidery and crazy quilting (hey, crazy quilting for crazy crafters! Have you tried it?). But I have so much arthritis from previous surgeries. Not sure I could hold those little circles, much less sew the button stitch around them! But they are indeed precious!

Thanks, thanks. I love Christmas decorations that are made out of felt. Really reminds me of my childhood.

By the way your "blanket stitch" is so perfect!

Keep the ideas coming!

This is great and very easy to make too. When I get done with all these 'A walk in the Woods' felt ornaments I can think about making this, one could use any colors they wanted using up small scraps of wool felt which I have an abundance of.

I really like this garland. It actually looks easier than my trying to string yards and yards of popcorn and cranberries! I must try this one. Thank you ever so much for this tutorial.

This is so sweet! I love pink and red! It would be real pretty with beads between each circle like Patty at Pip Stitch did with her fall leaf garland.

Thank you for visiting my blog and for your sweet words!!!
