Twyla Tuesday

It's been a topsy turvy week around here. Preparations for Lindsey's 21st birthday party was the main order of business.

We needed haircuts this week and I thought it would be fun to share with you how we get our hair cut. We are fortunate enough to have found a wonderful hairdresser who prefers to cut hair in your house rather than in a shop. I don't know who snapped this picture of me getting my hair cut, but thought I would be brave and share it with you.

We really do make a big deal out of birthdays. We happen to think people should feel special on their birthday. We usually choose a theme for each birthday and that guides us as to decorations and gifts. This year for Lindsey's we chose Barbie as the theme. I am only going to give you a sneak peak at what it looked like because Lindsey is going to share it on her Barbie Wednesday post tomorrow.

The gas gauge on my car went out last week. You would think that I would have known better after running out of gas once, but Thursday night while Jordan and I were shopping for balloons for Lindsey's birthday party it happened again. I was trying to leave the Wal Mart parking lot when the wheel locked up and the car stopped. I sent Jordan across the street to get gas when a lady pulled up beside me and rolled down her window. "Are you alright? Do you need help?" I replied that I ran out of gas. She saw Jordan crossing the street and she said, "We'll go help him." The lady and her husband got the gas can, insisted on paying for the gas and proceeded to fill our tank so that we could be on our way. I was so touched I cried. I never felt so taken care of before. It was so amazing to me that every step we took that night allowed us to be at that place at the exact time that this angel of a lady was behind our car when it ran out of gas. It reminded me of the verse: In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy paths. - Proverbs 3:6

I found this Thanksgiving postcard this week in a flea market. I love Thanksgiving postcards and especially the ones with turkeys on them. Feel free to copy the image and use in your art projects. Yes, we have so much to be thankful for.

Wishing you all much happiness! Twyla

I'm lucky enough to have a hairdresser that comes to my house. So much easier than having to go to a salon!

I can't wait to see more from the Barbie party!

Oh Twyla!
Love the haircut pic, and I love the Barbie theme for Lyndsey. How precious. We are never to old to love Barbie. I mean she loves pink, and that is the most soothing color we can think of. As I have grown older, I find myself drawn more and more to the color. I can't wait to see Lyndsey's post tomorrow. Happy Birthday Miss Lyndsey, here's to many, many more to come.

Angels amongst us, they live here for sure. Your angel sure was watching over you Twyla. It does make you cry when something wonderful happens, as we live in such a world of turmoil, and people just do not care about each other anymore, that it just shocks us when something so special happens to remind us, they still walk amongst us.

Have a beautiful Tuesday sweetie, Country hugs, Sherry

Morning Twyla,
That is so cool how you were taken care of :)
I hope you get the gage fixed. I ran out of gas only once...of course with a gage problem...that would make it harder to know when it's empty.
Awe...you hair is long! I wish my gal would make house calls for hair cuts.
Can't wait to see Lindsey's birthday party.
Have a great day.
Warmly,
Deb :)

Happy happy 21st birthday Lindsey! Hoping you had/have a day filled with all the people and things you love Lindsey!

Hi Twyla!
I used to have a friend whose daughter was a hair stylist and she cut my hair at my house for about two years, heavenly!
Oh no! I'm so sorry your car pooped out but how wonderful you had someone offer assistance and take care of you like that!
Wishing you a lovely week,
Sally

Is that Spencer or Muffin...cute little button nose. I want to give him a smooch. You are such a brave girl to let us all in on your newest hair cute. Reminds me, I need to do that same thing. My daughter Kara is so into pampering. She knows how to make it a big priority and I get a finger waging at me when I don't from her. One of the fun treats of having a daugher to mother us. Glad your angel showed up with gas and kindness, all in one. Tell Lindsey, I mailed her a box yesterday!

Hi Twyla! What a sweet woman and husband to help y'all the way he did. I can't wait to see Lindsey's birthday pictures tomorrow.

I passed through your part of the country last weekend going to and from St. Louis. Tanner was visiting Webster University. We don't know where he will end up but it sure is beautiful up there!

Hi Twyla...
I was so touched with your story about the angels coming to help you 'n Jordan... I'm always thankful when I hear about, or experience, an act of love sent to us from God in the form of angels... it makes my Faith stronger, and of course it gives me that wonderful warm 'n fuzzy feeling of goodness... thanks to the Lord for blessing 'n protecting you ~ hugs ~
And, I think your haircut photo is adorable! How neat to have someone come right to your home...
I'm off to check out Lindsey's party post next...
Thinking of you...
