Hello All! I am going to share my obsession with you. It has been an ongoing collection for the past 14 years or so. Here is a hint:

If you can guess from this little glimpse then you’re really good. I know there are some of you out there who know your stuff.

Once upon a time around ‘92ish, I was in a flea market and happened onto a very intriguing bowl.

It made me feel all warm inside. The problem was there was this bowl and there was a stack of four smaller bowls. Each had a price of $4 on them. Dilemma – I could only afford one or the other. I chose the large bowl and thought I would come back in a week or so and buy the other small set of bowls. Sadly, when I went back the 4 small bowls were gone. I went on for years finding a piece here and there, mostly at garage sales, not knowing the name of the pattern or much about it other than it was Pfaltzgraff. Then, we got the internet in 2000 and I was able to track the pattern down and find out it’s name, Folk Art.

No wonder I loved it so much! I started shopping for it on ebay. I was new to that also. I bought way more than I should have and even bought some things that I didn’t know I was buying! I’ve come a long way since then and now am a very savvy ebay buyer.

Anyway, my collection has grown. Most of it came from a garage sale we lucked into. Lindsey and I walked into a garage full of it. I thought I’d died and gone to Folk Art heaven. Lindsey said, ‘It doesn’t matter if we have money for anything the rest of the day, you have to get everything.’ Bless her heart, I love the way she thinks.

One day she was looking on ebay and found a Folk Art ceiling fan. She got her dad involved and the next thing I know, I have a Folk Art ceiling fan on the way!

I love my collection and look forward to adding more pieces. I still don’t have everything, even though I have a lot.

I was in a flea market Sunday with my son, when I spotted this:

I made a beeline for it. My son is amused by me, that I get so excited over something like this, but just like that little brown bowl, this made my heart go pitty-pat. I took off the lid and this is what I say:

I said ‘If you want to get me something, this would be it.’ I walked out a happy woman.

I’ve been making dishcloths again. It’s like an addiction and I have an addictive personality. I have decided this is what I want to do for a living. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist) I am currently working on some sets to put in our etsy shop.

One of the things I enjoy, is recommending other great blogs for you to get acquainted with. You may be very familiar with this one, but thought that if there was anyone out there who hasn’t visited Angela Harris, then by all means, it is time! She has a beautiful spirit and I know you will be drawn in and want to add her to your list of favorites. She also has a very pretty etsy shop.

I feel fall is one of the more creative times of the year. I know Lindsey and I are crafting like crazy (hence the name). I would like to leave you with this quote from Arthur Koestler – Creativity is a type of learning process where the teacher and the pupil are located in the same individual.

Muffin says, 'See you next week!'

Wishing you much happiness! Twyla

Hi Twyla,

That is a very nice collection. I can imagine your excitement when you went to that garage sale. I like the way Lindsey thinks.

Muffin looks so cute in the picture with her head cocked to one side.

Have a great week,
Kim

Hi Twyla, I love your dishes! They are warm and inviting, I agree. I can't believe they make a ceiling fan too! Wow! My sister collects a similar type dish, but I can't recall the pattern, but I'll find out and let you know. I also like your sewing basket, I found the same one but in pink at a flea market, but it needs a few repairs, I keep meaning to get to that! Thanks for commenting on Katie's hair, she's getting a kick out of hearing the comments. your daughter is gorgeous too! Suzie

What a great collection! And that was very sweet of Lyndsey to say that at the garage sale. Both of your children seem very giving and full of love. Very pretty sewing basket, and very nice of your Son to get it for you : ) I hope you are having a beautiful Tuesday!

I love all your dishes and collections. If I see any at my thrift store and they are cheap I will get them for ya. I'll be one the look out. I get a lot of joy finding "stuff" for people if I know that they collect it. It gives me more reasons to hunt and more fun when I score. You pup is so cute. Does he have lots of outfits asnd do you know how to make them?
Have fun decorating for fall, I should start mine soon as well. Please show us what you do, we wouyld love to see.

Love your collection!! I used to have a set of those dishes that we used as our every days. I always love the warm folk art feel of them. Love the sewing basket (and it's contents of course!) lol And little Muffin is just darling!

Muffin is absolutely adorable. With her little head cocked over to the side... as if she is really saying Bye! About Pfaltzgraff... 16 years ago I was collecting their quilt dinnerware... which they no longer produce... I absolutly love their products. Unfortunately I lost most of the dinnerware thru an accident...but still have several plates and a little sweetner box. I agree... their dishes are beautiful! Oh... also... my hubby and I have been married for 14 years so boyfriend 1.0 disappeared a LONG TIME AGO! :)

twyla, you bring back memories-these are the dishes my best friend chose for her wedding-that would be in 1975!! I loved them, I chose English Staffordshire blue & white-i don't like it anymore, now that i have been married again, shall i try to sell it on e-bay??

Hi, Twyla!

Well this is fun. I have a small collection of Pfaltzgraff too. All of mine came from one garage sale and I've never seen more- anywhere except here!

I've hung on to them through the years because they are so study and almost unbreakable.

I also have a collection of Currier and Ives dark blue dishes.

Have a great day!
