This week's church is in the beautiful

historic town of Defiance, Missouri

I had the pleasure of visiting there

last weekend.

 

Defiance is where Daniel Boone made

his homestead in Missouri and where

he and his son built a stone house.

 

You can take tours of the house and

grounds.  I would recommend it if you

are ever in the area.

Pastel Granny Square Afghan

Hello friends!

 

Here is the fun afghan that I finished last week!

It's basic granny squares done in mostly pastel colors.

 





  I decided on a simple border. These colors are so happy together!  

 

A close up of the border.

(I am not as good a photographer

as I am crocheter:)  It is tricky for me trying to

get a whole afghan in a picture (and not be blurry)!

 

 

 

I am considering selling this afghan.

If anyone is interested just leave me a comment and I'll

get with you!  I have always thought that it

 would be perfect for a little girl's bed.

Barn Charm

Hi!

 

This week's barn comes to you

from Lawerence County, Missouri.

It was taken this year before the trees bloomed.

They are all full and green now.

 

Everything is so lush and green now it's

hard to imagine how bad last summer's

drought was.  It was painful looking at

all those dead, dry fields.

It's been awhile since I posted.

Lindsey has been very sick, but is starting

to feel much better now.

couldn't help but stop and snap a picture of

this beautiful church. 

 

It is located in northern Missouri.

Crochet - My Happy Craft!

 

 

Hello friends!

 

I wanted to show you how the

granny squares I've been working on are

coming along!

 

It certainly would make a beautiful baby

blanket or for a toddler bed.

 

I am so loving the colors and the 'sampler'

feel to it.  I am joining as I go, I really like that

method!  A couple more rows and a border,

then I'll show you the completed blanket!

 

Crochet is my Happy Craft.

It's how I've been choosing to spend my

creative time lately.  Fun color play and

yarn running through my fingers, oh, how

I love yarn! 

 

My stack of afghans is a visual expression of my joy!

Barn Charm

 

Hello!

I have one more barn from Missouri Town 1855

to show you.  I loved this unusual barn!

 

 

 

We were lucky the day we were there to see

the newborn lambs.  They were so sweet.

 

 

 

This is another old house that was rebuilt on this site.

I started to crop this picture but then noticed how

awesome the shade of the tree was so decided to

leave it in:)

Vintage Irmi Nursery Lamp

 

Hello friends!
Last weekend I found an adorable new Irmi to add to my collection! 

 

 

A pastel colored barn scene with a boy and girl. I love this one. Irmi also known as Nursery Originals or Nursery Plastics. Irmi made these beautiful lamps and other nursery items in a wide range of colors but the pastel ones always pull a little bit more at my heart strings.

 

 

I love the hand painted details on these sweet wooden pieces.

 



 

This lamp has a little fabric piece where the door to the barn should be.

 It has a little light socket there so that the lamp doubles as a night light.

A New Crochet Project

Victorian House

 

Hello lovely ladies!

I was looking through pictures that I have

taken on some of my travels around Missouri.

 

I thought you might enjoy seeing this very ornate

Victorian home in Plattsburg.  It was built in the 1890's

and has a walnut spiral staircase that leads to the cupola.

 

This is just one of the many quaint Victorians in this

historic town.  They also have 7 churches that are over

100 years old! 

 

Sure would be awesome to live in a house like this!

Barn Charm

 

This week I'm showing another barn from

Missouri Town 1855.  A park that features old

buildings and the way of life in the 1800's. 

 

 

I love that they have animals in the 'town'.

There are workers there all the time, but to experience

it to the fullest with demonstrations and lots of

interaction, check the events calendar.  The day

we were there was pretty much a self guided tour.

 



 

There are many such log homes.

A real treat if you love history and the

way of life in times long past.
