Hello friends!
The theme for this post is American Girl Barbies!
My Favorites!!!
My Mom's first Barbie was an American Girl, so I have always thought of her as being a more special doll, but upon my research into the world of Barbie collecting, I discovered that she is a very loved and sought after doll.
The American Girl doll was the first Barbie doll to have bendable legs. She came in 3 different hair colors along with 3 different hair styles. All hair styles being a bob with slight changes. Such as a chin length bob, a longer bob with a side part and a turquoise headband and a longer bob with a middle part.
American Girl Barbies were only produced from 1965 to 1966 making their production span considerably shorter than the original Ponytail Barbies which were produced for 5 plus years.
I was lucky enough to have gotten an American Girl Barbie with her original box for my birthday last year.

This year Mattel released a reproduction American Girl which I look forward to adding to my collection.
Wishing you all a lovely Fall day, Lindsey

As always - LOVING Barbie Wednesdays! I'm having a happy Barbie Weds. myself - my hubby just came home with the Friday Night Date ornament for me! I LOVE her. I didn't even know about it until your post, Lindsey - so for that, I heartily thank you!
How funny that this is what I found on your site because I am upstairs now trying to figure out what to do with my daughters Barbie swimming pool and bus. lol
Too much stuff around this ole house but I can not get rid of such wonderful memories
Thanks for coming by honey

Wow! They are amazing! Barbies were my favorite toy when I was little. I had a huge collection. :)
Love your blog and thank you for stopping by to say hi to me. :)
American girl was my first Barbie. I got her for Christmas and from the date you gave it must've been 1965 (I always thought it was when I was 4 yrs old, not 5). I still remember the excitement/anticipation hoping I was getting a Barbie...and, there she was in her striped rainbow swimsuit and plastic band on her head. That was the last time her hair looked nice and flat...then she looked more like the fuzz ball head.
Well, now I know what I want for Christmas this year. :)
Love your barbie collection. Look forward to Wednesdays!
I didn't know that the American Girl doll was the first Barbie doll to have bendable legs. How cool is that?! :)
