Good Friday

Hello dear friends!
On this Good Friday I thought I would share
pictures of some of the churches I have
photographed around Missouri.

I always feel like these country churches are the
heart of the communities.

I especially love the really old ones like these.

Like barns, old churches always catch my eye as
I travel.  I love the unique style of each one and
have a hard time not stopping to snap a picture
of each one!

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.'"
John 11:25-26

Have a wonderful Easter!

Barn Charm

Hello friends!
I went on a road trip last week that took me
past this beautiful barn.

It's one that I always anticipate when I travel
that direction!

The beautiful farm boasts a stone barn and house.
There is also a very pretty spring that features the
same stone.  It's such a striking location.  You can
just feel the history of the place.

Thanks for visiting me!

In Search of Spring

Hello friends!

I have spring fever - bad!  Our weather
has been very slow warming up, in fact, we have
over 2" of snow on the ground today!
Tuesday we decided to go where the temps were
warmer and we could feel a little spring!

A 2 hour drive south of us is War Eagle Mill.
I have been wanting to visit here for years, but
just had never made it.  They have a huge craft
fair here every year and sometime I'd love to
go to that!

The history of the mill and the beauty of the area make it a
popular destination.  I was surprised there were as many
visitors there the day we were.  Maybe they were in
search of some spring, too!

On the top floor of the mill they have a restaurant.
We had ham and beans, corn bread and cole slaw for lunch.
They have a store also where you can buy their ground
flours and mixes.  We bought the biscuit mix and
have loved it!

After lunch we walked around the grounds and took
many pictures.  This place is going to be gorgeous
in the spring and I look forward to going back then!

We enjoyed our visit here and it was just what we
were looking for!

I hope you enjoyed going on my little adventure with me!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Love,  Twyla

Barn Charm

Hello everyone!

This barn always catches my eye when I pass
through Polk county.
I took this picture last week when the clouds
were just gorgeous!
I think they almost look like a painting!

For those of you who have read my Twyla on Tuesday
posts, I have started posting on Fridays.  I am having a
lot of fun joining Barn Charm on Tuesdays because
it gives me a chance to share a lot of the pictures of
barns that I have taken on my trips around Missouri.

I will be back on Friday with other things I've
been up to!
In the meantime, be sure to visit Bluff Area Daily
for more awesome barns!

Have a wonderful day!

Friday's Finished Project!

Hello friends!
I have finally completed my project!
Let me tell you, it's been a VERY time consuming
project!
I got the idea from a pin I saw on Pinterest.

I have always wanted built in bookshelves and thought
this would be a way I could do it myself.
They are made with unfinished wooden crates from
Michael's and painted a creamy white.

I started collecting the crates and that wasn't quite as
simple as I thought it would be.  Our Michael's does not
stock very many at a time and many times I'd go in only
to find they were out.  The other problem I had was
that the quality was not consistent and I wouldn't buy
some of them.  :(

I also used my coupons to get them 40% off as often
as possible!
The paint I used was Mystique by Valspar.  Boy, did I
get tired of painting crates!  Then having to let them dry
long enough before they could be stacked.

I am still playing with all my little cubbies and trying
to figure out what I want to put on them.
I have too much stuff!
I love that I can have a huge book shelf that I can
take apart and move whenever I feel like it!

Hope you enjoyed seeing my finished project!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Twyla on Tuesday - Barn Charm

Hello!

I'm having so much fun sharing my barn pictures with you!
As I drive the highways and backroads of Missouri,
I am drawn to the barns.

They have a story to tell.
They are strong and reliable.

This quaint barn is in Lawrence county.
So nicely kept and I loved the windmill!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Projects!

Hi ladies!
I have finished my Cath Kidston inspired
granny square afghan!

It's about time considering I started it way
back in 2009!  I intended for it to be bigger,
but I was not inclined to start making more
blocks for it and decided it would make a
great lap-ghan size.

It actually is a great size at 38" x 48".
I also put a different border than I had
originally planned, but I Love this pretty
pink scalloped border!

It is hard to take pictures of yarn because it
never looks quite the right shade.
I'm very pleased with this little project
that finally lived up to it's potential!

This is another project I'm working on and this is
not the ta-da moment!  This is still very much in
progress!
I am buying unfinished crates from Michael's
(with my coupons, of course) and painting them white.

I've always wanted built in bookcases and an idea I
saw on Pinterest made me realize this was one way
I could get that look!

I'm still building, I want many more than this and
don't look too closely to what's on the shelves:), it'll
be arranged when I finally get it done!

Thanks for dropping in for a visit!
It's always nice to see you!
Have a wonderful day and fantastic
weekend!

Twyla on Tuesday - Barn Charm

Hello!

I took this picture last spring when things
were still green and beautiful.  These barns
sit together in a beautiful rolling field in mid-
Missouri.  One of my favorite drives.

It's easy to get swept away be these old
beauties.  It makes it hard to keep your eyes
on the road!  Not to mention snapping pictures!
For this one I had to pull off the road and
get out.

Thanks for stopping by to visit today!
Be sure to visit Barn Charm for more!

Wishing you a happy day!

Five Things on Friday

Hello!  I'm sticking my head in here on Friday
to share five things with you from my week.

First of all, I revisited this project that has
been sitting around for literally years, waiting
to be finished.  I made these granny squares in '09
inspired by Cath Kidston's beautiful red granny
square afghan.  For whatever reason, the squares
were laid aside, I even gave a few away!
I stumbled upon them yesterday and decided
to finish it up!  I will show you the finished
afghan soon!

The picture below was taken Tuesday morning when
I stuck my head out the door right after awakening.
I grabbed the camera to capture the snow sticking to the branches.
I'm glad I did because before long it
melted off.

Sunday, I visited St. Charles, MO.
I love the historical buildings here and
it's always fun to walk along and picture
a time long ago.

I'm going to share a sneak peak with you!
This is a project I've been spending A LOT of time on!
I got the idea from Pinterest and I will be back
to show you the full reveal soon!

The last thing I wanted to show you today
is my little Barney.  His favorite place to lay
is on top of the back of the couch.  I don't know
how he keeps from falling off, but he totally
snoozes out perched precariously.
He's such a little sweetie and brings his
mommy so much joy.

Here's wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Love, Twyla
