Pink Saturday

Hello dear ladies!
A happy Pink Saturday to you all!
A trip to Silver Dollar City was the perfect
thing to do on this gorgeous fall weekend.

Even among all the fall in evidence, there was still
some pink to be found!

These are a few of the pictures we took.
The one below is leaves painted on the concrete.
Can you spot the REAL leaf?

Please visit Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and
all the other wonderful pink posts!
Have a wonderful day!

Halloween Greetings album

Hello friends!
Last week I shared the start of my latest paper bag album.
I pulled out my stash of Halloween supplies and started scraping!

It's always fun to pull out my supplies from years past to see the scraps and leftovers that I can add to the new!
The old rickety style house is a Tim Holtz die that I cut from chipboard and painted with Vintage Photo crackle paint. The white fence is also a Tim die.

If you have never tried paper bag albums I really recommend them. They are fun and easy to complete. I must confess that I don't purchase lunch bags and create the books myself. I found a seller online that sales them pre-folded, stitched and sprayed with Archival mist. Perfect and ready to go!

If you would like to purchase them, they can be found here on ebay.
I buy the 6x6 size, but she does sell others.

To add more details to my pages, I added glitter glue accents around edges and swirls. I use the Martha Stewart glitter glue set that can be found at Michaels.
I also used white and black gel pens to create faux stitch lines around pages to give them a more finished look.

Wishing you a lovely Friday, Lindsey

Double Happiness

Hello friends!
A sweet vintage card to share with you today!
Aren't they a cute couple?  I love their clothes against the pink background.

I also have a new Sugar Kissed Cottage card to share with you today!
This card features the first in a new series of Mushroom elf digi stamps!
Isn't he cute?! I had fun creating this fall inspired card using Pink Paislee Old School paper and coloring my stamp with Copic markers.

I wish you a wonderful day of double happiness,
 Lindsey

Halloween Crafting

Hello friends!
I recently did a Halloween swap with my blog friend, Meri.
We swapped a collage and a tag.
This was the collage I created for her.
I used a cute vintage costume pattern image of 2 young witches and layered my collage with patterned paper and vintage sheet music.

Here is the tag I made.
I used a cute Sugar Kissed Cottage stamp and scrunched up black tulle to create a fun bow.

Here is the collage that I received from Meri.
She is really good at adding lots of fun demensions and layers to her work.
I love the orange skeleton at the top corner!

Here is the tag she made along with an ATC she also sent.

Twyla on Tuesday

Hello!
I don't want to bore you with my new mixed media
art, but I just did this one yesterday and thought since
it was similar in subject to the one I shared in Saturday's
post, I would show this one to you, too!

Have you started 'pinning' yet?!

Lindsey and I are hopelessly addicted to Pinterest!

If you aren't familiar with it, it's a place where you
'pin' pictures you like from the internet giving credit
to your source so you can get back to it!

It is invaluable when it comes to saving recipes from the net.

We now have many we want to try!

Lindsey and I share our boards.  We each just pin under her name.  The boards are a combination of both our styles.

There is so much inspiration at Pinterest.  We stay signed in
so that our introduction page always shows things we are interested in.
For various reasons, this is a very good idea.

If you would like to visit our boards or if you aren't familiar
with Pinterest and want to see what it's like

I hope you are enjoying a beautiful day!
Love, Twyla

It comes from the inside cover of a vintage children's Mother Goose book by Whitman and Tell-A-Tale Books.

Pink Saturday

Hi!
For this Pink Saturday I am sharing
a mixed media picture I made this week.
When I began this piece I thought 'what colors
make me happy?'  I picked pink and yellow.

The piece just progressed from there.
I visualized a happy town and hope that it
conveys that.
I hope that you enjoyed seeing it.
Be sure to visit Beverly and the other Pink
Saturday posts!
Have a lovely day!
Love, Twyla

Creative Inspiration

Hello friends!
You may remember a horrifying photo shown last Friday of my messy craft table. Now, as you scroll down and look at these new horrifying photos, I just want to admit that I did clean my desk. Really I did! On Sunday! But alas, I started a new project and it quickly turned into this scary sight.

This is my favorite paper cutter, it is always a main tool on my table. A Tonic Guillotine cutter. I love it!

What project has messed up my work area, you ask? Well, a Halloween paper bag album. It's been awhile since I've made a mini book using paper bags, but I really enjoy it! It's so fun! This is the cover so far. None of it is glued down yet, so that I can continue to rearrange things until I am happy.

For inspiration I turned to this 2009 October issue of Somerset Studio.
I love flipping through Somerset magazines to get my crafty mojo started!

I also turn to my Halloween album from last year to get inspiration.

I love being able to see techniques that I forgot I had used!
It helps to renew my creativity!

Blogs are also a must when I need a creative pick me up to get inspiration!
How do you get inspired?

Friendship Card

Hello friends!
A new card to share with you today.
The image is a Sugar Kissed Cottage digital stamp that I printed and colored with Copic markers.

For this card I first cut out my decorative shapes from the Sentimentals Cricut cartridge. I also cut green swirls from the same cartridge. I layered my shapes together and glued them onto a cream cardstock card base that I inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The purple paper is an old scrap from Cosmo Cricket that I punched with a Martha Stewart Doily Border punch. Blue dyed seam binding and a star pin from Maya Road finished off my card.

Twyla on Tuesday

Hello friends!
Everywhere you look fall is upon us.
I am embracing the season and doing a bit of decorating.
The pumpkin picture in the background is one I painted.

I am so loving my new adventure with mixed media art!
I must say I haven't done anything in a long time that excites
me as much and is as fulfilling.

I love mushrooms and had to feature them in one.

I really appreciated all the nice comments on last Saturday's
post showing my afghan.  There have been plenty of cool
evenings to work on it.  Watching the gently rolling ripples
grow.

My friend, Donna of Brynwood Needleworks, coined the
phrase 'obsessive creative'.  I was so happy to have a name
for what I am!  It just bugs me that I don't have time to
do everything I want to do!
Each day's activities are planed giving time for creating
top priority.
What will I be doing when I'm 100?
Hopefully, I'll still be happily creating!
Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting with me!
Love, Twyla

Creative Friday

Hello friends!
A new card to share with you today!
This one was created using October Afternoon paper and stickers along with a Sugar Kissed Cottage stamp.

Okay, you wanna see something scary?

Really scary?

Like, make your hair stand on end scary?

Whatever you do, don't enlarge the photo!

It's what my craft table looks like right now!

Maybe it will make you feel happier about your space!

You may wonder how I get anything completed here,
 but somehow I manage.
Honestly though, I will think of something that I want for a project
and it will probably take me 1 to 2 hours to locate it!

Cute Cards - Old and New

Hello friends!
We have cards to share today!
First is this funny vintage card of 2 old women talking with each other.
Aren't they funny?

I want to share the newest card that I created this week.
I started with my Martha Stewart Cherish Punch to cut out my card shape.
I used scrapbook paper by Cosmo Cricket from their Odds & Ends line.

The stamp I used is a digi stamp from our Sugar Kissed Cottage shop.
I colored it with Copic markers. If you have never tried them, they are really neat markers but take lots of practice to get the blended look you want. I am still learning, but it's so fun!

I wish you a lovely day, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday

Hello Ladies!
If you visited me last Tuesday you may
remember my venture into mixed media art.
Since then I have completed three more pieces!

The one above was inspired by black and white paper
on sepia toned background.  I painted the tree trunks in this piece.

The one below shows a little more painting.

Yesterday I spent some time in my studio
creating another piece.
First I start by gluing phone book pages
to a canvas.  Once dry, I squeeze on some paint
and enjoy creating what I want the background to look like.

I love the way the paper bubbles and creates
character.

My inspiration for this piece was a quilt pattern
called the Tree of Life.
I cut the small triangles from a sheet of Basic Grey
scrapbook paper.
Trying to get the pattern straight and gluing down these
little pieces made my head hurt!

Once I had that done, the fun part is finishing up with a pretty
border and adding any embellishments that I felt it needed.

This is such an enjoyable art form for me.
It has opened up all kinds of creative uses for my
collection of scrapbook papers.
I make my own decoupage medium also!
It's a 50/50 mix of Elmer's Glue
and water shaken together well.
Works great!

I am linking up with dear friend Holly,
at Cutie Pie Cottage, for her Dotty Hop Day!
My 'Tree of Life' has polka dots in the border!

Have a wonderful day!
Love, Twyla
