Barn Charm

 

A working farm in the Rhineland area

of mid Missouri.  Lots of farms and corn

fields around this area. 

 

I spotted this barn on my walk

along the Katy Trail.

Weston Church

 

This is Holy Trinity Church in

Weston, Missouri.

It sits high on a hill above the town.

 

It looks large and imposing in these pictures,

but it isn't very big. It was built in 1912.

 

 

I visited Weston last Sunday on a rather

rainy overcast day.  We climbed the hill

to the church so I could take these pictures.

It's a lovely, peaceful place.

Return to Cross Stitch

 

 

I am revisiting a craft that I haven't done in years!

There was a time when cross stitch was my main

craft of choice. 

Elizabeth inspired me to get started again!

 

 

I was going through my old cross stitch

magazines and ran across this very simple

sampler pattern.

I thought it would be perfect to do one

for each of my kids.

 

 

The magazine is from 1990 and I felt like the

colors of floss called for was a little outdated, so

I chose a selection of DMC in varying

shades of aqua.

 

 

Along with the old patterns I found this 'almost

finished' sampler that I started many years ago.

It's a shame I never finished it!

I still think it's so pretty.  I just may go ahead

and finish it up, too!

Tobacco Barn

 

I had the pleasure of visiting Weston, Missouri

this past weekend.  I always look forward to seeing

the tobacco barns that grace the landscape.

 

 

It is impossible to tell from these pictures just

how huge this one is!

 

If I were to pick my favorite Missouri barn,

this one would be right up at the top!

Stone Church

This pretty church sits in

historic downtown Kirkwood, Missouri.

 

We walked by last week on a sweltering

day!  I loved the stonework on it!

Beauty along the Trail

 

The trek along the Katy Trail has

become such a passion in my life.

 

Even though the miles are tiring and

it can be very hot and humid some days,

I am so satisfied that I did it!

 

I think you can see by the scenery I've

shown so far that there is so much beauty

along the trail that it is awe inspiring.

 

That's not to say that there aren't plenty of

woods with little to see and mosquitos to

swat, but the gems along the way make

up for it!

 

This butterfly was laying on the trail

and he was so beautiful that I stopped to

take a picture and zoomed in close.

I then edited it so that you could see

him even closer and I love that you

can see the surface of the trail.

you may prove what is that good and acceptable

City Barn

This little barn has been swallowed up by

town.  It sits in what once was a busy barnyard, but

the farming is past and now a busy road runs in front

and businesses have popped up all around.

It's one I pass practically every day and

always puts a smile on my face.

Inspired Sunday

 

I am returning to Rhineland, Missouri

this week.  A grand old church across

a corn field!

 

I snapped this picture on a Sunday morning

as the congregation was gathering.

Covered Bridge

I am totally smitten with covered bridges!

We are so lucky in Missouri to have 4

historic covered bridges still standing.

 

I was pleased to discover this modern

covered bridge in a neighborhood in St. Peter's,

Missouri.  It was built in 1976.

 

It still gave my heart a flutter!

There is a charm about these bridges

that totally captivate me.

 

I couldn't help but think how awesome

it would be to live here and get to drive

through it every day!

The Tortoise and the Hare

 

It was very funny to run into these

two creatures of fable on my walk!

 

Just as you might expect, the hare was

way ahead of the tortoise!

 

I couldn't stick around long enough

to see if the hare was going to take a

nap in the woods, but he did run off the

side of the trail. 

 

I love the canopied walk through

this section.  It lends itself very

well to fairytales.

 

 

"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro

throughout the whole earth, to show Himself

strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal

to Him." - 2 Chronicles 16:9a

Barn Charm

Such a nice farm scene along the

Katy Trail.  I am enjoying the sights

as I walk!  It is very heartwarming to

see farms like this one.
