I first decided that I was going to learn how to sew and I do so love vintage styled fabrics. On Saturday we went to a quilt shop and they had two baskets full of fabric scraps. All you can fit in a ziploc bag for $2.50. So I was going thru one that had some strips of vintage looking fabric and I started finding these little triangles of different fabrics sewed together and I was so excited I started stuffing them in my bag. We were both down on our hands and knees going thru the baskets. I finally counted a total of twenty one of these beautiful triangles! I don't know why they would have put something like that in the basket that they took the time to sew together but I was thrilled to get them. I also got several fat quarters in vintage style.
After I had picked out my others thinking I was being good not over doing it I spotted the most beautiful fabric I have ever seen in my life! I am smiling right now thinking of how gorgeous it is. It makes me so happy! The whimsical style and colors are so me! It's Halloween fabric which is sad that I didn't have a few months ago but at least getting it now made it 25% off! I have been looking it up on ebay and looking up the designer to see her other work. I bought 1 yard of each although I would have liked more, it was still about $8.00 a yard and there were four different designs to get.
I talked about my gorgeous fabric all night showing my brother how lovely it was. Today I stayed home to craft while my Mom and Brother went shopping. When they got home my Brother said he had a surprise for me and turns out they went back to the quilt shop and he bought me the rest on the bolt of my favorite one! What an amazing Brother! I'm tickled pink! My mom had also dumped out the scrap basket out on the floor and found me three more triangles giving me now a total of 24 triangles! My plan is to make them into a banner to hang in our craft room. I have lots of ideas for my Halloween fabric including a quilt. So watch for that to be posted somtime in the future cause remember I don't even know how to sew yet!
After that we went a few Flea Markets were I found more vintage Valentine's to add to my ever growing collection. I also found a 1984 Cabbage patch child's sewing machine never opened for $12! I also picked up a vintage dress pattern, a Vogart embroidery pattern (cause yes, I also want to learn how to do embroidery) and a couple wooden spools. I also found this old picnic basket. I love that it looks so beat up and that it went on many picnics back in it's day.
We went to Hobby Lobby too and I was looking at their Valentine section when I found these bags and cupcake picks. I love them!
I don't know why but ever since I was a little girl Valentine's Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. I have been busy since the first of January coming up with Valentine crafts. Here is my newest creations.
Have a good week, Lindsey
