Twyla on Tuesday - Weston, MO

Hello sweet friends!
This week finds me in Weston, MO!
It was the first time I'd visited this town.  It was
founded 175 years ago and looks much the same now
as it did then.  There are many shops, restaurants and
a great place to walk!

This old church was built in 1844.  It was so pretty.
I love it's cheery red color!

There are so many pretty spots in town.  I took
lots of pictures and am showing you some of my
favorites.

We were greeted by this very pretty little guy.  He was
very friendly and playful.  He didn't even mind posing
for me!

A little while later we spotted him again, but this time
he was playing coy.

I sure enjoy sharing my adventures with you.  I wish you
could all go with me sometime!

Have a most marvelous day!
Love, Twyla

Adorable Vintage Card

I love vintage greeting cards!
There is something so sweet about them.
I am always hunting for them in my local antique shops. Sometimes I buy them in  sets that have been sealed up, but mostly I prefer seeing them before purchasing. These 2 loose paper pieces from a child's birthday card were layered in amongst a set of baby cards.

I adore the colorful bow border and wanted to share it with you!
Please enjoy this image for your craft projects!

Twyla on Tuesday - A Picture of Me

Hello Friends!
I was too self conscious to
show a picture of my new hair
cut last week, but decided since
we were all friends, it couldn't hurt.

I really am liking it!

Where I was in the picture was Hermann, MO!
Hermann sits right on the Missouri river.  Steamboats
used to come by right here back in the day.  One even
blew up here!

This is the bridge that crosses the river.
We love to visit this beautiful town.  There are historic
old buildings, antique stores and wonderful food!

It is easy to imagine life in older times when you
visit here.

Thank you for visiting with me today!
Have a beautiful day!
Love, Twyla

Hello friends!
I found this neat old 1901 children's Reader book at an antique shop
and thought I would share a couple pages from it.

I love how detailed these old illustrations are!

Especially this one of the 2 girls with their doll!

Stamping and Coloring!

Hello friends!!
Today, I am sharing another card I created using
one of my new Sugar Kissed Cottage stamps called, Rain Boy.

I stamped him with Black Memento ink and colored him in with Copic markers.
I then created the card with patterned papers by October Afternoon from their Woodland Park line and Kraft cardstock that I misted with white and gold spray inks. The ribbon is seam binding I colored with Distress Stains.
I also added a few strips of washi tape on my card. Washi tape is one of my newest addictions!!! The floral one is by October Afternoon and the woodgrain is by We R Memory Keepers.

I love this sweet stamp!!!!
You can find it available here at Lil Inker Designs shop.

Have a lovely day, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday - New Haircut and Where Am I?

Hello ladies!
I am asking all you Missouri ladies once again,
"Where am I?'
Any ideas?  It's one of my favorite towns!

I am also showing off my new haircut!
I decided I was tired of my hair and looked through
a hairstyle magazine and picked out a really cute
short style.  I showed it to my beautician
and she started cuting.

You know that feeling you get when you're sitting in
the chair and it feels like they're cutting way more
than you thought they needed to?  Well, I was definitely
getting that feeling!  I was trying not to panic, telling
myself that it's okay, it'll grow back.
I was shocked when I finally saw it.  Where was
the hair that was supposed to cover the sides of
my face?  Well, it has been a few weeks and
I am getting used to it.  It is growing and it is so
easy to take care of.

Thanks for dropping in!
Wishing you all much happiness!
Love, Twyla

Stamping and Card Making

Hello dear friends!

Yep, that's me! I rarely share photos of myself here,
but my lovely boss took this photo of me with my new line of stamps,
 called The Sugar Kissed Cottage!

As most of you know, I have a wonderful new job at a scrapbook store!
I am so thrilled that they are carrying my new line of stamps!
I am soon going to demo my new stamps at a mega crop we are having next weekend to 300 ladies! Yikes!!! I'm a little nervous and a lot excited!!!

The stamps are made of clear photopolymer,
which is a better quality than acrylic.
I collaberated with Lil Inker Designs,
to create them and you can find the first 3 of my new line for sale
here at the Lil Inker Designs site.

I am working on a few samples with my stamps to take with me to show all these ladies that I demo to, and to share with you too!

I stamped the Surprise stamp set with Memento black ink and colored it in with copic markers. I then created my card using Crate Paper's Little Bo Peep paper line. The 'Surprise' sentiment is also from the stamp set.

I am also working on a post to share soon with you about a wonderful new tool I have been using called, Sew Easy, that you can see I used on this card to create a  fun scallop stitched border!

If you have any questions about tools or products that I used in this post or any other, feel free to send me an email and I will be happy to respond!

Have a lovely day, I am off to work!

Twyla on Tuesday - Collecting Pottery

Hello friends!
I get a lot of pleasure from collecting pottery.
I get a piece here and there around our state.

I love the creamy pastel colors.
I also love the many patterns and shapes.

I began by collecting the aqua ones, but then
some of the other colors started catching my eye
and I noticed how pretty they were together.

The bird (below) is one of my latest
finds.  I love the style of it.  I would
describe it as art nouveau.

I will leave you with this quote and
wish you all a fabulous week!

find lies in you' - Anonymous

Vintage School Mini Album

Hello friends!
It's that time of year for school to start again,
so I made this ABC Primer mini album.

I used Graphic 45's ABC Primer paper line for this album. It's not a new collection but see fairly easy to find as it was quite popular.

As with all my albums, I do a lot of hand cut embellishments and flowers.

I also love my dyed seam binding, which I dye myself using Distress Stains.
This one I used here is Antique Linen Distress Stain.

Hope you enjoyed this pick of one of my latest albums.

Have a bright and happy day, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday - Where I Was!

Hi friends!
It is time to let you know where I was!
I am standing at the Lewis and Clark monument
in St. Charles, Missouri!  It is on the waterfront
very close to where they set off on their historic
voyage along the Missouri river.  I always enjoy
visiting St. Charles.  It is one of our most beautiful
and historic towns.

Garden of Daisies and an anonymous reader both
guessed where I was.  That's great!  It was hard!

Unfortunately, I did not get my Olympic afghan finished
during the Olympics.  I am still working on it.  I'm not
sure how much longer I'll make it, but when it's just
right, I am going to add a border.

You may remember that I started a project of writing the Psalms.
I am using composition notebooks.  I cover the outside with scrapbook
paper and decorate as I go with markers and stamps.

It is very soothing to me to write the Psalms.  I am really loving it.
I am in to my 3rd notebook and up to chapter 58.

I glue two pages together to make them sturdier and then I whip stitch
the edges together.  This gives such a nice feel to the pages.  I've
also discovered washi tape!  It's fun and adds another bit of stability
to the pages.

Thanks for dropping by to see what I've been up to!
It's always great to see you!
Hope you are having a wonderful day!
Love, Twyla
