Twyla on Tuesday - Birthday Party

Hello friends!
Today is my birthday!
Because we have made plans for today,
we already had my birthday party.
Thought I would give you a peek!

If you've been a reader of our blog for awhile
you know that we have themes for each party.
This year, since my New Year's resolution was
to read more books,
they surprised me with a book themed party!

Lindsey found these adorable Little Golden Book
decorations and she and my son did the decorating.
I think they did a fantastic job!

Aren't the decorations cute?!
Lindsey even used her collection of Little Golden
Books as part of the decorations.
Yes, you are right!  There were several
books in all those packages!
I have a lot of reading to keep me busy!

I loved the wall decorations.
How cute is it to use the plates?!

This year we opted for cupcakes instead of a big
birthday cake.  They were made by a bakery here
in town and they were So Good!

Thanks for stopping by my party.
I am getting to spend the day today with
my family.
I am very blessed.

Have a wonderful day, ladies,
and happy birthday to all the other
July birthday girls!
Love, Twyla

Christmas Crafting in July?

Hello friends!

Last December, something very exciting happened to me.
I had just shared a vintage Christmas card here on our blog, as well as sharing tags everyday that I had been making for the Tim Holtz Twelve Days of Christmas Tags event. Tim found and visited our blog and offered
to buy the vintage card that I had shared here.
I am a total Tim fanatic and was thrilled to send him the card.
He said that if he ever used the image he would let me know.
Well, fast forward to just a couple weeks ago, when I was visiting Tim's blog to see his newest product releases, I spotted my card used as a new stamp!!!
I was so happy to see this Santa and reindeer image created into this gorgeous stamp set! Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, Tim contacted me to send me this not yet released stamp set!

So I've had this set in my hands to play with
this week and created a few tags.

This tag was created by stamping the image onto watercolor paper and coloring with Distress Markers and a water brush.

I just love how this image stamps!!

This tag is using the Distress Markers to color the
stamp before stamping it onto the tag.

On this tag, I heat embossed the stamp and colored in with Distress Markers.
I also used Tim's Kraft Core cardstock on this tag.

I created the white wash effect with Picket Fence
Distress Stain on a kraft tag.

On this tag I used Festive Berries and Mowed Lawn Distress inks and then stamped the image with Archival ink.

I hope your having a lovely week, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday - Summer Days

Hello dear friends!
I've taken a little vacation from my Tuesday post the
last couple of weeks as I continue to spend time with
my husband who is recovering from surgery.
I am happy to report that he is doing very well and able
to enjoy an outing.

It's been such a hot summer as I know it has been for many
of you.  Luckily, it doesn't keep me from traveling around
our beautiful state and discovering new places.
There are many beautiful, peaceful spots to spend
a day or an afternoon.

'Deep summer is when laziness finds respectibility'. ~ Sam Keen

I hope you all are enjoying your summer and taking some
time for playful bliss.

Enjoy your day!
Love, Twyla

Irmi Monday - Play Lamp

Hello friends!
It's time for another Irmi Monday again!
Today, I am sharing one of my very favorites!

This cute puppet play themed lamp features two cute irmi people and a poodle!
It also has a music box mechanism in it.

Aren't they cute?!
I love their little outfits!

If you've never heard of Irmi before,
they created hand painted, wooden nursery items
from the 50's through the 70's.
Irmi also went by the names of
 Nursery Originals and Nursery Plastics.
They created lamps, switchplates, mobiles, plaques,
night lights and other wooden nursery items.

Have a wonderful day, Lindsey

Birthday Crafting

Hello friends!
It's been a busy week here for us two crazy crafters.
This month is going so quickly with my new job, various summer activities
and most importantly, preparing for Twyla's (my Mom) birthday!

So I thought I would share with you this birthday themed album I created
recently using October Afternoon's new Cakewalk line.
The colors and patterns are so dreamy!!!

This line is perfectly retro in colors and patterns!
I loved working with it and highly recommend it!

Birthdays are very important in our family and we love to celebrate them!
I am secretly working on a theme for Twyla's party table and look forward to
sharing it with you, later this month!

This month we also will be participating in The Mad Tea Blog Party
hosted by Vanessa of A Fanciful Twist.

Don't forget, if you haven't entered in for our crafty giveaway, leave a comment on the last post and I will announce the winner tomorrow!

Wishing you a lovely day, Lindsey

Help Me Celebrate My New Job Giveaway!

Hello friends!!
I absolutely LOVE my new part time job!
I'm so happy, I want to offer a giveaway
of super cute crafty supplies to celebrate!
It includes a 6 inch paper pad and diecuts from
 My Mind's Eye's Nostalgia collection.
(You can see the album I created
using this paper here.)
cardboard shapes and a Maya Road
 chipboard accordian album!

Here are a few photos I took at the store.
Located in Southwest Missouri, Scrapbook Generation is a
large scrapbook store. We carry all the latest and greatest
including all of my favorite vintage lines!
If you are ever in Southwest Missouri, stop by and say hi!
We are only minutes way from the orginal Bass Pro,
the largest hunting and sporting goods store!
Which makes it a perfect place to drop off your husband!

Chances are though, that if you or a friend scrapbook,
then you've already heard of Scrapbbok Generation.
There known worldwide for their sketch books and kit clubs.
Designed by Allison Davis, Debbie
Sanders and Stacey Atchley,
Their monthly membership clubs and sketch books
are beautiful and make scrapbooking easy!

When I'm not helping customers, most likely I will
be standing here with stacks of paper spread out
to help prepare our kits to ship out!
You can view their books and kits online at

I also teach classes at SG. This week, it will
once again be time for my monthly card class called,
Card Party. I teach a vintage style card alongside 2
other ladies with 2 other totally different approaches
to cards. This month I decided to do something
different and show how to use what is quickly
becoming a new obsessision - washi tape!
So I chose brighter colors and went for a soft sweet
style with lace and ice cream cones.
Something were all craving this summer!

Please leave a comment on this post to enter in my drawing
and I will randomly select a winner on Friday, July 13.

Wishing you happiness, Lindsey

Antique Ladies Diary Style Mini Album

Hello dear friends!
Hope you had a lovely Independence day!

Last week, I showed a peak of my latest mini album
and now I want to show you the finished project!
I mentioned in that earlier post how I used DMC
to add stitching on the front cover.

This paper line is called, A Ladies Diary by Graphic 45.
Definitely one of my new favs!

This line was super easy to work with but,
it was so pretty it was almost hard to cut!

I added lots of flowers and rhinestone swirls that I
picked up at my local craft stores to add lots of details.

I bought so much of this paper I
 think I'll make another mini!

I also used Tattered Rose Distress ink to stain my ribbon,
which matched perfectly with the colors of this line!

Have a wonderful day, Lindsey
