Vintage Style Crafting!

Hello friends!
We were so busy during the Sugar Kissed Christmas tutorials that I never got to share the Christmas mini albums I created throughout the season.

Have you ever seen a sheet of patterned paper that you just thought was too pretty to cut?
Well, I have always felt that way about a specific paper line. Daisy D's Mistletoe Memories was the name of the line. It's several years old and the company went out of buisness.

Photobucket
This line is retro themed and makes me so happy!
Photobucket

I have been hoarding this paper for years, but manged to find more recently on ebay
so I decided to finally make something with it!

Photobucket

Since the line is so old, there aren't many embellishments, so I did a lot of hand cutting from the papers.

Photobucket

I love how all the papers look like a piece of old wrapping paper!
It makes me so happy!

Photobucket

I also added other retro pieces from Crafty Secrets and Cosmo Cricket to fill the book.

Photobucket

I was enjoying creating Christmas albums so much that I couldn't stop!
I did this one....

Photobucket

and this one...
I had fun using Graphic 45's Christmas line for this victorian style book.

Photobucket

and this one...
Another fun retro themed mini album

and lastly, this one!
I really enjoyed creating this one with October Afternoon's Holiday Style line. The colors were so dreamy and the style was so sweet and vintage!

Now I am thinking about Valentine albums!!!!

If you like my albums, you can find them for sale here on ebay.

Wishing you a wonderful day, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday

Hello dear ones!
It is hard to believe Christmas is over for
another year.  It is my hope that everyone had
a wonderful time with family and friends.
Our own family enjoyed the many traditions that
make each year special.

I wanted to share a couple of my gifts.
The vintage planter, above, was a gift from Lindsey
She is absolutely beautiful!
It is by Relpo.

This beautiful motto print was a gift from my son.
I collect these and although I have many pretty ones,
I think this is one of the prettiest!
It is dated 1927 on the back in an inscription
that reads 'to momma, from Connie'.

My children know me very well and they don't
shop for mom at the mall.  What in the world
would they find me there?!
I am very blessed in so many ways.
It is always a pleasure to share my interests
with my blog friends.  Thank you so much
for spending some of your day with me.
Love, Twyla

A Two Crazy Crafters Christmas Tale and Tag!

Hello friends!
Merry Christmas to you!

Two crazy crafters the night before Christmas all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar kissed ideas danced in their heads.
They went all through the house looking for glitter
They snipped and glued and sprinkled with sugar.
They wanted to remain in a sense of vintage,
So they crafted and created with a sweet old image.
They valued the old
More precious than gold.
And hoped to share more than they could hold.
Snuggled under afghans with hot chocolate and whipped cream
They drifted away with their thoughts and their dreams.
They remembered Christmases past with Barbie dolls and cookie jars,
Sweet teddy bears and Hot Wheel cars.
Treasured memories old and new,
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year, too!

For our last day of Sugar Kissed Christmas, I have one more tag to share!

Cut a tag shape to 3x6 or use a manila tag.
Print and cut above vintage image.

Ink tag with red Distress ink. I used Festive Berries.

Flick droplets of water with your hand across the tag and set aside to dry.

Take a splatter stamp or a flick across with a tooth brush, white paint to cover the entire tag.

Glue image to the center and tie a pink bow across the bottom.

Add a mini banner and a Christmas sentiment to the top of the tag.
Tie pink ribbon through the top of the tag.

Take red glitter glue to accent the berries in the image to finish it off.

Merry Christmas wishes to all!

Christmas Tag #11

Hello friends!
Merry Christmas Eve!!!
Today is the second to last tutorial for our Sugar Kissed Christmas!
Can you believe how fast it's gone?
This is the next to last tag.

Start by cutting a tag shape from red cardstock measuring 3 x 6.
Cut a piece of scrapbook paper slightly smaller and punch or cut a decorative edge along one end. Glue to center of tag.

Cut fun image from scrapbook paper or use a vintage image and glue to the tag.
All the paper used on this tag is from October Afternoon's Holiday Style line.
Add a couple flowers to the bottom corner.
Take a white gel pen and draw stitch lines across the top and bottom of the tag.

Take pink adhesive pearls and adhere them to the tag in a swirl design.

Add a pink bow to the top of the tag.
Add your Christmas sentiment in between the flowers on the tag.
Take red glitter glue and add decorative dots around the top of the tag.

Tag is finished!

I loved working with this paper line! October Afternoon always inspires me!

Tomorrow will be the last day of our Sugar Kissed Christmas!

Wishing you a lovely Christmas Eve, Lindsey

Vintage Style Bottle Brush Tree Tutorial

Hello friends!
I made Sugar Kissed Bottle Brush Trees!
I've always wanted to try making my own trees and this year I finally did and it is so easy!

I started by picking up a couple packs of trees at Hobby Lobby.

Then I simply soaked them in a bowl of bleach and water until they turned white.

Now to color them, you can mix Distress inks or paint into spray bottles.
If you use paint, use 2 parts paint to 1 part water.

It's a little messy, so I set the tree in a cardboard box and started spraying until I achieved the desired color.

Now set them out to dry. I let them dry over night.

Now take a paint brush and lightly rub glue over the tips of the trees and sprinkle with glitter.
I used Martha Stewart's White Gold glitter.

You can also cover the tree bases with glitter for extra sparkle.

I can see where this could easily become addictive! I want one in every color!

Wishing you a lovely day, Lindsey

Lindsey's Favorite Recipe

Hello friends!
Today I am sharing a recipe for one of my favorite foods ever!
Rum Fudge.

I absolutely love the smell and taste of rum extract. It's so yummy!
This recipe originally started out as a frosting recipe, but it is the most difficult frosting to make! There is a very fine line between pouring the frosting on a cake when it's not too hot for the cake but not to stiff that it won't spread, so Mom (Twyla) came up with the brilliant idea to make it into a fudge!
It will make a small batch of fudge and you're welcome to double it if you want.
I love that it only takes 4 ingredients!

Rum Fudge

1 stick of butter
2 cups of sugar
2/3 cup of evaporated milk
3 tsp of rum extract

Boil butter, sugar and evaporated milk till your candy thermometer reaches 240 (just above soft ball stage) Take off heat and stir in rum extract.
Butter a a 9 x 5 loaf pan and pour in the fudge mixture and let set.
Cut into squares and serve.

If you would like to try it as a frosting, boil only until soft ball stage. Keep stirring the mixture after you take it off the heat to keep it smooth until it is cool enough to spread on cake. We like it on chocolate cake!

These are not as soft and creamy as typical fudge. It has a rich, sugary taste that will keep you craving it until the whole batch is gone!

I also wanted to share these sweet pages from an old party book.
I love this sweet old art deco style graphic!

There are fun little ideas for games and recipes! It's fun to see what they recommended to cook and play!

Wishing you a lovely Wednesday, Lindsey

Winter Wonderland and Giveaway Winner Announced!

Hello friends!
I thought I would show you how I created a little
winter wonderland inside this jar.

I used Epsom salt for the snow.  It is sparkly like snow and
a good consistency.  Just layer in as deep as you'd like.

I added the church in the background, which was a glittered
ornament that I found at Wal Mart this year.  The trees were
little bottle brush trees from Hobby Lobby.

The cute little girl figurine is a flea market find.
She is by Lefton and the perfect touch.  I also think
animal figurines would be cute, too.
I think you could have fun creating your own
tiny wonderland!

It is time to announce the winner of the giveaway
for the scarf!  First, I'd like to say that I wish everyone
could have won!  Thank you all for your sweet
comments about the scarf.
The winner is Carol of Old Glory Cottage!

Thank you for visiting today.  The week of
Christmas is a busy one and we appreciate you
taking the time to stop by.
Enjoy your day!
Twyla
