Pastel Paper Bag Album

Hello friends!
I've been scrapping this week with lovely new supplies
and created a paper bag album.

I used the Howdy Doody paper line by My Mind's Eye.
A lovely new line that just came out! Full of sweet pastel colors along with wood grains and floral patterns made this line super fun to work with!

I dyed seam binding with Tattered Rose Distress Ink
to coordinate with the pages and inked the edges of the paper
with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Recollection's flowers from Michaels were
perfect for adding a sweet girly touch!

I just love creating mini albums!
It's such a fufilling craft project and lots of fun!

My paper bag albums usually measure 6x6, which is perfect
for use with the mini paper pads!

Crafting can be so theraputic and I love the feeling of excitement
I get everytime I pull out a stack of pretty paper and glue!

Wishing you a beautiful day, Lindsey

Twyla On Tuesday - Crocheting and Art Journaling

Hello dear friends!
We don't call ourselves Two Crazy Crafters
for nothing!  Our lives really do revolve around our
crafts.  When we shop, we visit the local craft stores
and the scrapbook store.  That is where our extra money
goes.  When we plan our day, it always involves one
of our many craft projects.  I really would not feel like
me without it.

I have so much yarn in my stash that sometimes it is
fun just to do a scrap afghan using all different colors.
It is a great way of using up all those little bits of leftover
yarn from other projects.

This is a happy little afghan.  Using my favorite
crochet stitch, the half double crochet. I just do one row
of each color using a size K hook.  I chained 135 to get
it started.  When it's the size I want I'll put a border around it.

I am so inspired by all the art journaling I see on Pinterest.
I wanted to give it a try.  Like they always say, there's no
wrong way to do it and the hardest part for me was just
to sit down and start.  I ripped and glued, painted
and doodled.  I am trying to figure out what my style is.
I haven't quite figured it out yet, but it was freeing and
enjoyable.  I am sure there will be more to show you in
the future.  This is my first feeble attempt.  It is different
from the collage canvas art that I do.  A little more personal
and definitely a challenge.

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a wonderful week!
Love, Twyla

Collecting Irmi - Clown Switchplate

Hello friends!
I started collecting sweet vintage wood nursery accessories a few years ago.
Created by Irmi, also known as Nursey Originals and Nursery Plastics.
They created switchplates, lamps, wall hangings, mobiles and more.

I love the sweet hand painted style and colors and have managed to find several pieces that I am excited to share with you!
I have yet to find a permanent place to display my collection together due to how much space the lamps can take, but I dearly love them all!

This happy little clown always makes me smile!
Do you have an Irmi piece or remember them back in the 50's - 70's?

Wishing you a happy day, Lindsey

Crafty Inspiration

One thing we two crafters enjoy
is a few good crafting magazines!

We picked these up at Barnes and Noble and
have been soaking up the inspiration!
Oh, how I love Where Women Create!

Scrap 365 is a British magazine with beautiful
layouts and ideas.

Somerset Studio has lots of great articles from
inspiring artists.  Along with tips and techniques.

A Gift

Today is precious.
A gift from God.
Capture the moments
and record them on our memories.

Recognize the tiny miracles
and be thankful for each gift.
Hold them tight to our heart
and cherish them forever.

Have a wonderful day!

You You Hold My Heart

Hello friends!
Last week I showed you a stack of pretty new
My Mind's Eye paper that I purchased.
I got 4 6x6 mini paper pads and made this album with the first paper pad.

The line is called Miss Caroline by MME.
A really lovely line in a very trendy color combination
this spring of blue, yellow and gray.

I used Hug Snug seam binding and distress inks
to customize my ribbon to match the book.

I also used Prima and Recollections flowers that I found at Michaels last week to coordinate.

One of my favorite border punches is this Martha Stewart Eyelet Lace punch.
I love using it in all my books for an added vintage look.

I listed this album here on ebay.

Wishing you a beautiful day, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday

Hello dear friends!
This is a mixed media collage picture I
did recently.  I was inspired by the words of the
old song, 'Wings of a Dove'.

I first painted the background and the fountain
and cut pictures of doves from images I found online.
I then glued them down to the canvas and painted over them.
I then wrote in the words and sealed it.
This kind of artwork is so enjoyable and satisfying.
It takes me away better than Calgon!

I have not talked about it very much on our blog, but I've had a
lifelong struggle with my weight.  I lost 100 lbs. 15 years ago!
Keeping it off has been my goal ever since!

There was even a before and after picture of me in the
newspaper at the time (1997).  It is embarrassing to share this with
you now, but we're all friends, right?

I try to eat healthy and thought I would show you
what I've been eating.
My son tells me that I eat like a bear.  He says that salmon
and berries are what bears eat.
I eat it because it is good for me.
I also have a goal to live to be 100!
Are you health conscious?
Do you have health foods you like?
I'd love to hear your thoughts and goals too!
Have a nice Tuesday!
Love, Twyla

President's Day

Hello friends!

To celebrate President's day I am sharing two
of my postcards featuring George and Martha Washington.

I especially love these showing their family lives.  Martha
was a widow when she married George and had two children.
He took it very seriously to father them as his own.
He and Martha never had children of their own.

Labor to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial
fire, called conscience. -George Washington-

Have a lovely day!

Vintage Mother Goose Illustrations

Hello friends!
I recently picked up this sweet vintage
Mother Goose Picture Book at an antique shop.
It was calling my name as I entered the booth!

This is one of my favorite pages!
Wouldn't you love to have the cherry wallpaper in your house?
I know I would!

I also loved this Jack and Jill page.
I think the dog was a sweet addition to the illustration!

Have a wonderful day, Lindsey

Crafty Retail Therapy

Hello friends!
I have been crafting away at my scrap table the last couple days, playing with new paper I got recently when Mom and I went out for some retail therapy!
I was so thrilled to find the brand new
Miss Caroline line by My Mind's Eye.

This beautiful paper line has so many great aged woodgrain patterns
and sweet vintage floral patterns.

There are so many beautiful patterns in this line
that I couldn't wait to start playing with it!
We also stopped at Michaels where I picked up this great set of white and cream flowers that are half price this week.
What I like about these are that you can ink or stamp directly onto the flowers to make them coordinate with whatever project your working on!

The Miss Caroline line by My Mind's Eye also comes
with 4 different stamps sets. I picked out my favorite,
but I may have to go back for more!
There stamps are such a nice quality!

Have a wonderful Friday, Lindsey

Vintage Play Album

Hello friends!
I made a fun children themed album this week using a mixture of vintage style paper scraps from October Afternoon paper.

Most is from the Five and Dime line.
You can find the 8x8 size paper pad at Hobby Lobby.

I love the paper doll patterned paper from  this line.
I cut out the 2 children for these pages and adhere them at the bottom so that the photos will slide underneath them.

I hand cut paper roses from one of the patterns
to give the book more layered elements.

All of the paper bag albums that I make measure 6x6.
It's a really great album size for a gift.

To make my albums look more aged, I always ink the edges of the pages with Vintage Photo distress ink.

This album is listed here on ebay.

Wishing you a wonderful day, Lindsey
