Twyla Tuesday

Hello dear ladies!
Can it possibly be the end of August?
My beloved summertime is coming to an end.

I will miss the light in the evenings.
The sandals.
Sitting in my sunroom.
The 49 cent ice cream cones at McDonald's.
(Okay, I probably won't miss that since I plan
on still having those.)
Iced coffee.
(Oh yeah, not stopping that either.)

I will continue the antiquing trips.
This weekend I found the sweet little angel,
the vases and the Mother motto print.
Ahh, summertime treasure hunting.

I was particularly proud of this little embroidered
piece.  It is very old.  You can tell.
The tag said it was from a three generation
estate sale.  Very fragile and aged, but oh, the
charm.

No, I'm not rushing the season, but this latest
giant granny square afghan is very autumn inspired.
It's oranges, purples, sages and black almost
make me feel ready for some apple cider.
I will cling to the lazy days of summer until it is
over.  I know many of you love fall and all
the wonderful activities that it brings.

There is so much to be thankful for.
I am thankful to you, our dear friends and hope
and pray that all are well after the weekend's
hurricane.
My heart goes out to you who were touched by it.
Have a wonderful week!
Love, Twyla

An Easel Card

Hello friends!
Have you heard of easel cards?
They are made so that when opened they stand up like an easel.
After watching youtube tutorials, I decided to try making one myself.
It was so much fun and so easy to do!
Most paper used on this card is from Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe paper line.
I mixed a few other scraps together along with the Dutch Girl digital stamp from The Sugar Kissed Cottage to finish this card.

If you want to try making one you can find the tutorial videos here.
Wishing you all a lovely day, Lindsey

Victorian Silhouette

Hello friends!
I am loving silhouettes right now!
Have you noticed how trendy they are?
I noticed them popping up in lots of new releases for this Fall.
So, I thought I would share this card I created for you today with this cute new Victorian silhouette couple digital stamp.

I decided to leave this image black and white except for the flowers that both silhouettes are holding.

Wishing you a wonderful day,
Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday

Hi sweet ladies!
May I show you a little treasure that I
found this weekend?  It's an Enid Collins
wooden purse.

Many of you will be familiar with these purses.
They were popular in the '60's and are very collectible
today.  This one I discovered has never been used!
It still had it's hangtag and the tissue paper on the inside!
It is just like new!

The best part was that it was priced at $2.50!
I had to look twice to make sure I was reading it right!
I thought you might enjoy seeing the tag from both
sides and see just what it said.

Another thing I wanted to share with you this week
is this little caddy that I crocheted.
I crocheted a bowl and sat the cotton thread spool
inside just because it fit!  I noticed that it could hold my
crochet hooks and scissors and the next thing you
knew, I had a very functional caddy!
I use it all the time!

I finished the pastel giant granny square afghan!
I promised I'd show it when it was done.

I tried a new border for this one.
It is just as scrumptious as it looks!

It is time to announce the winner of the knitted dish
cloth that I told you about last week.
It's Queenie!
Thank you to all who commented!

As always it's been such a pleasure to share a little
bit of my world with you all.
Thank you for stopping by and
have a marvelous day!
Love, Twyla

Retail Therapy

Hello friends!
Yesterday, Mom and I had a little retail therapy!
Our first stop was to Michaels, where we enjoyed looking at Martha Stewart's new paint line. I bought a color called, Beach Glass. I look forward to trying it today! Next stop was Hobby Lobby, where we had a wonderful time!
They had a lot of new stuff in today including an expanded Tim Holtz section, where I picked up this fun postcard/music note embossing folder set.
I also love looking at the wood crafts isle and picked up a bag of clothespins for future craft projects.
Our last stop was to an antique store, where I picked up an Aqua Bingo card and this cute wooden basket to hold my new goodies!

Today I am going to pull out all my Fall/Halloween craft supplies and start organizing it all. Fall is my favorite season! I enjoy looking at my favorite Halloween scrapbook paper to inspire my craft projects .

Wishing you a lovely day, Lindsey

Wizard Of Oz ATC Blog Hop

Hello friends!
If you are like us you have very fond
memories of watching the Wonderful Wizard of Oz
on tv when you were a child.

It has always held a special place in our hearts.
That's why we were inspired to do an ATC Blog Hop
with that theme!

The little cabinet holds some memorabilia along
with some of our ATC's.

Here are a few close-ups of our ATC's.
This one features Graphic 45's fun Magic of Oz paper line.

On this ATC, I embossed yellow cardstock wih a brick embossing folder
and then distressed it with Vintage Photo Distress ink to create a fun background.

This ATC was created by Twyla.

Now you can link your ATC post below.

Thank you so much for your participation!
Have a fun day!

Announcing The Sugar Kissed Cottage!

We have exciting news to share with you all today!
We have opened a new etsy shop called The Sugar Kissed Cottage!  To accompany the new shop, we have also started another blog!

Right now our shop is full of vintage style digital stamps to use in your crafting!
If you've never heard of a digital stamp, it is a black and white image that is emailed to you, then once printed, use it in your everyday traditional crafting!
Isn't that cool?
As our shop grows we hope to add more items to fill your crafty needs!

I had heard of digital stamps in the past, but as soon as I would see the digital part I thought I wanted no part in it. I like traditional style crafting, but when I took the time to find out what it really meant and that it works with traditional crafting I was all in!

How great is it that you could have so many more designs to craft with for a lot less money, no shipping and you can print them at any size which is great for cardmakers and scrappers.

So come on over to our new blog, The Sugar Kissed Cottage, where you will soon see new designs, tutorials, crafty inspiration and more!

Also make sure to come back here on Friday, for our Wizard Of Oz ATC Blog Hop, to participate and to visit the participants!

Wishing you much happiness, Lindsey and Twyla

Pink Saturday

May joy and happiness
be thine,
'Tis a wish of the rose
and of mine.

A postcard dated Sept. 30, 1912.
An enduring affection.
Not many clues are given in the writing
except that Dorothy visited Carrie.
I wonder what they would have talked about?
Were they sisters or childhood friends?
Did they share a laugh or a jar of
canned green beans?
A visit long past left only to our imagination.
Dorothy would be so surprised her
postcard was being shared with so many.

Be sure to visit Beverly and the other
Pink Saturday posts!

Alice in Wonderland

Hello friends!
What do you get when you take a classic fairytale,
adorable scrapbook paper and a whole lot of pink cardstock?
My newest mini album!

This cute paper line is called Fairytales by Reminisce. They feature not only Alice but Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White.

I love the giant stickers that come in this line such as this big white rabbit.
Isn't he the cutest?

Each page has faux stitching around the edges,
which is short lines created with a white gel pen to create this look.

I had fun pulling out all my pink cardstock for this super girly book.
To create layers, I cut chipboard and glued to the back of the stickers before adding them in the book.

To create this book, I used my Cinch book binder. If you have ever considered getting a book  binder I highly recommened this one by We R Memory Keepers.
It's so easy!

This album is listed here on etsy.

Wishing you happiness, Lindsey

Hello Beautiful Ladies!
 My creative bliss.
These are the things that are keeping me from
housework:)

I am not normally an embroiderer, but just felt
like getting in touch and playing with some pretty DMC.

These giant granny square afghans are completely addicting!
This is number 3!  I'll show it to you when I get finished.

Still not wanting to do housework, I picked up a couple of
limbs from the yard.  I always think there is something beautiful
about them.  Even more so after I wrapped it in pretty yarn!
I haven't decided quite what I am going to do with it yet.
Maybe hang pretties from it or just stand them all in a big vase.

I also spend time fiddling with my collections.
I have been collecting these frames for awhile now and
finally got them arranged and on the wall!

I found this pretty red and turquoise tablecloth at an
antique mall last Sunday.
Gotta love that color combination!

If you have read my blog awhile you know I love old things.
I don't know how old this leaded glass window is, but I am sure
it's at least 100 years old.  The small picture standing next to it
is dated on the back - 1880.

Another sweet little distraction.  Isn't it cute?  I got it Sunday, too!
So much work to do, putting my sweet things in their new places.
When would I have time to do housework?!
This IS my idea of housework!

Yes, this is my creative bliss.
Crochet, knitting, painting, embroidery and anything
else I can imagine.
I live and breath creative living.
The first order of business of the day.
If I didn't have a project I would be lost!
Or, I would have a really clean house!

Have a wonderful day!
Twyla
