Butter Cookie Recipe

We hope you try and enjoy these cookies! They are a Christmas tradition in our family. My mom (Twyla)says don't even think about talking Christmas to her until she has a butter cookie in her hands!



Butter Cookies
Beat together:
4 eggs
4 sticks butter
2 cups sugar
2 tsp vanilla

Then add:
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
6 cups flour

Chill dough for 1 to 2 hours. Roll out and cut with cookie cutters. Sprinkle with colored sugars, or you can roll in a ball in your hand and flatten. Bake at 375 for 9 to 11 minutes.

The directions are very short because it was my Grandmother's recipe and she I guess thought it was self explanatory.
