Love is in the air. That is one of the sweetest things about this time of year. Everyone is thinking about love.
This is a Valentine that I found in an antique shop. I thought the inside was as pretty as the outside.
Romance comes in many forms and I find collectibles from the turn of the century to be very romantic. The Victorian times is full of romance.
I love collecting these old cabinet cards. Many times the backs are very pretty also.
I was totally captivated by this little girl. Isn't she darling in her little dress and pretty necklace?
This was her in 1902.
Another thing I love to find are calling cards. This one was sent to me by my dear friend, Deb.

I love them! How sweet the little girl is.I think my fav is the second one with the little poem on it.
Twyla, I love the Victorain era, and I have alot of the very old cabinet cards. To me, that era was like no other.

Thanks for sharing the old valentines and photo's with us! Do you remember in Laura Ingalls Wilder's books when she got her own name cards and gave one to Almanzo? I think of that story every time I see a calling card.

These are beautiful....thank you for sharing and for letting us use them too. Ahhh sweet romance and it was shown in a very beautiful way back at the turn of the century. Beautiful works of art indeed. I love the old photo cards too...very impressive work by photographer who had it so much harder than we do!
I recently found at the Salvation Army Thrift Store, a couple of portraits approximately 3x4 in size each with curved glass in the frames. Upon more examination of them I discovered they were hand painted over the photo to enhance the beauty...all in perfect condition, frame, glass, and photos. I only paid $10.00 for the pair, which was a stretch for me...but to me they are priceless...I just wish they were some one from my own family!

I had a wee computer issue today. I went in to change something in my blog profile and I ended up changing the wrong thing and I think I may have severed all connections I had - links and blog followers and that sort of thing. I still want to be your blog friend. If you still want to follow me, you may have to redo it. I learn everything on the computer through trial and error and this was one big error! Sorry about that.
