This is Barbie's Mountain Ski Cabin that came out in 1972. It was a Sears Exclusive.
While Skipper enjoyed playing out in the pink colored snow and Glittery trees, Barbie enjoyed spending some alone time with Ken in the cabin!
I found some interesting Barbie facts to share.
The Ken doll could not be sold in India due to the tradition of arranged marriages.
An interesting announcement I found today:
On Feb. 12, 2004, Mattel announced Barbie and Ken, after 43 years of dating, “have decided to spend some time apart.”
Canadian girls own an average of seven Barbie® dolls! That compares to eight in the US, seven in Italy and five in Germany and France.
If Barbie was human sized, she would stand 5 foot 6 inches tall, weigh 110 pounds, and have a 39 inch bust, 18 inch waist and 33 inch hips.
Have a lovely Wednesday,
This is one I haven't seen before. I love seeing vintage items.
ReplyDeleteHow funny about the "break-up" announcement! *giggle* I am glad I came by to visit. You have a lovely blog! :)
ReplyDeleteThe nerve of Barbie to have those measurements!! She must not eat Christmas cookies. :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard about Barbie's scary human sized proportions before! Some women in La Jolla actually have surgery to look like that! ROFLOL!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, what is MADGE doing alone in the mountain cabin with KEN while BARBIE is away!?! What is going on here!
I hope Midge isn' foolin' around with Ken as she is already married to Alan! hee, hee
ReplyDeleteGreat trivia Lindsey - always so much fun to learn more about the Barbie World. Thanks for your fun Barbie Wednesdays!
Have a great day!
I guess there are probably some real-life Barbie's out there on the ski slopes right now - with possible "surgical enhancements" on that top measurement!
ReplyDeleteLove the ski cabin! I have Skipper's skating outfit - that's as close as I can get!
That Ski cabin is wonderful. If I had seen one like that as a child in 1972, I would have wanted it for sure. Barbies had much more glamorous lifestyles and accessories than my Sindys!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing once again. I love your posts.

Fun, fun, fun facts. May I ask you and your mother a question about my stories since you have both been reading since the beginning. Should I steer clear of stories about my husband's career. They are amazing, but I don't think readers relate to them very well. No one comments on them, and I would hate to seem prideful or worse, boring. I need good honest opinions. I would like to know what you think Lindsey, are these kind of stories interesting for a young person, or should I stick with nostalgia. I appreciate the feedback, my social phobia is running amuck! E
ReplyDeleteoh how fun is that???!!
ReplyDeleteWow, interesting facts.
ReplyDelete18 inch waist? Yikes! I think you'd need a corset! :>
ReplyDeleteThank you for such interesting facts on Barbie!
