Christmas Card Tutorial and Distress Inks

Hello friends,

I want to share with you today, a tutorial for a quick and easy, Christmas card.

I found this sweet little card this summer and thought it would be perfect for a bigger card!

So first print and cut the card.





I then cut a sheet of red cardstock to be half an inch bigger than the image on the top and sides. I cut it 1 inch bigger on the bottom and cut it with a Martha Stewart edge punch.





I then cut a sheet of pink cardstock and folded it to be 5 1/2 x 7 card size.

I then cut a sheet of green snowflake paper to be a half inch smaller than the card. I repeated this again with red paper.

I took a strip of pink ribbon and tied a knot bow in the center.

Glue the red and green paper together.

I added glue to the ribbon and glued it across the bottom of the red and green paper wrapping it around behind the green paper. I then glued the image to the red paper and glued that to the pink card.

Here is a close up of where I wrapped the ribbon around the green snowflake paper.

I then tied pink thread through a vintage pink button and glued to the center of my bow.

And that's it! Super easy and great for those last minute Christmas parties!

I also had some questions about the blending tool that I use with the distress inks to blend the inks on my tags. This is what it looks like. We sell it here at the Scrapbook store where I work but you can also find it in the Tim Holtz section at Michaels.

It has foam pads which you rub on your ink pads. You can also try makeup sponges if you don't have the tool. Just make sure if you go to purchase this tool that it has the foam and not the felt, which is for use with Alcohol inks.

While I was at the store I thought I would show you our variety of Liquid Pearls, which I used for the icicles on my Santa tag.

And here is our collection of Distress Ink pads! I use these to create vintage affects on tags and cards. I don't have them all yet, but hopefully I will someday!
