Hello Ladies!
It is really easy for me to become
obsessive with my crocheting.
I had such fun making the last giant
granny square afghan that I immediately jumped
back into making another one!
This one is more 'autumn' in feel.
In this picture below you can see how I make borders
for these afghans. I think it is unique and so pretty.
Antiquing this past Sunday, I ran across this
beautiful set of children's books.
I was drawn to their pastel spines!
They look so perfect with these vintage bookends!
The series is called 'My Book House' and has 12
volumes. My set isn't complete so I will be looking
to find the missing volumes.
We snapped this precious picture of Barney napping
on Mommie's afghan that she was working on.
It's a wonder I ever got it finished!
It may be hard to see, but Muffin is hugging
his little stuffed doggie.
Isn't it precious?!
It is really hard right now to be doing very much
with this heatwave that is gripping the midwest.
We were at 105 degrees today here in Missouri.
It is expected to be hotter the next two days!
Good time to stay inside and create!
Hope you all are keeping safe and cool!
Twyla
Hi Twyla,
ReplyDeleteI love the granny square afghan. And those books are perfect. The heatwave is here too...much hotter than it should be here in the mountains.
Stay cool,
Stephanie Suzanne ♥
Love your crochet and the set of books....how sweet. How do you crochet in the heat though??? Hope it cools off there soon.
ReplyDeleteThat set of books is perfect for you with those lovely pastel spines! I can't believe you started another granny square. I tried to get yarn so I could start one but the colors were a bit limited. I don't seem to have an eye for combining colors like you do. I continue to make pretty pouches and am enjoying the process. Have a great day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteI am "green" with envy over the childrens books!! I just love to collect them..... Absolutely love the afghan!
ReplyDeleteMarilyn

Happy Tuesday!!
Warmly,
deb :)
I like your afgan. Years ago I made one like that, and I really enjoyed making it. Right now I'm making a ripple afgan.
ReplyDeleteThose books are so pretty with your bookends.
Barney and Muffin are adorable and so it that afghan. I've just started some granny squares but have such a long way to go. You've inspired me to keep on keepin on.
ReplyDeleteOh those books look fun! What are they about?
ReplyDeleteLove the way you used the chair as a prop for the afghan. I just love the colors!
No need to stay cool here- we're still trying to stay warm! ♥
Your muffin is the cutest doggie! That is so cute that he sleeps with a stuffed animal. Your blanket is Gorgeous with a capital G!!
ReplyDeleteWhat year are your books from??
ReplyDeleteWe have some similar from our Mom's collection. One has a green cover from 1958-1963 and then we have quite a few with a blue cover from 1948.

Your afghan us just beautiful!! My grandmother used to make one for all of her grandchildren every Christmas. It brings back great memories. : )
ReplyDeleteYour fur babies are adorable and I honestly wouldn't have noticed the stuffed animal if you hadn't pointed it out. They blend together perfectly!!!! : )

Love your granny afghan! I have made some in the past and it's such a relaxing artsy craft...I, too, enjoy crochet as I've mentioned before. We have so many similar likes! I have the set of Book House books that you show here...fantastic illustrations and wonderful stories! And your little dogs accompanying you during the days and hugging soft stuffed toys...just wonderful...like my Bonnie and Betsy Belle shelties!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day and thanks for your visit.
BIG HUGS!
Coralie
I have the complete set of those books! I saw them at the Goodwill a few years ago and snatched them right up. I was drawn to the pretty pastel/gold spines first but I collect children's books, too...these colors are from my 60s childhood.
ReplyDeleteI love this picture. Hugs, mary
ReplyDeleteOh Muffin is so sweet and cute! Makes me want to get a dog!! XO Fran.
