Hello friends!
Thank you to all who entered my giveaway! The randomly drawn winner is:
Coralie from A Vintage Cottage Home.
Congrats Coralie!!!
I am still collecting these sweet story books illustrated by Corinne Malvern. She was an influential advertising illustrator and helped create the iconic fifties "look".
I am always on the lookout for her illustrations!
Corinne Malvern had been an magazine and fashion illustrator, but when her sister, Gladys, became established as a professional writer, they collaborated to create children's books.
I want to wish you all a lovely weekend, Lindsey
Hope your craft room is coming along nicely. Have a wonderful weekend. :) Tammy
ReplyDeleteThat book would make anyone sing -it's simply lovely - where did yu find it?

ReplyDeleteHi Lindsey,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these images. Hopefully I can find this book somewhere. Also congratulations on your win from Donna at Brynwood Needleworks, I just love her work. Have a great weekend.
Hugs,

Thank you for teaching me, Twyla and Lindsey. I have been collecting children's books for the last five years (I love the illustrations) and I really haven't "educated" myself as I go. I will keep my eyes open for Corinne Malvern. This is one of my favorite era's and it so much fun to think that there is actually someone who is responsible for the creation of that "happy" look I love.
ReplyDeleteFondly,
Suz
What beautiful books! I will keep my eyes open for them on my vintage searching jaunts ;) and send any I find your way :) Pretty pretty!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Kristen
I am waiting for you to do some Fairyland scrapbooking! Perhaps I should turn over an autumn leaf and see what I can dream up!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to our winner. She will be over the moon delighted I am sure!
I'm really drawn to these old books too. I have quite a few but never really thought about the illustrators. Thank you for pointing out something new and interesting.
ReplyDeleteCorinne Malvern has always been one of my favorites! I have loved her illustrations since I was a little girl. I don't think I have that Little Golden Book - I'll have to look for it.
ReplyDeleteI love old Golden Books. Anyone have any ideas of what to do with them as far as crafts. It has to be good for me to bear to cut one apart!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
