Hello friends! Today I am sharing another tag tutorial with you!
I started by taking this beautiful sheet of Scrapbook paper and cutting out 2 of the little girls and the Birthday line below it. This paper is by October Afternoon from their new Fly a Kite line.
I am using a mailing tag for this but you can make your own tag using cardstock cut to 3 x 6.
I then inked the tag with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and a blending tool which has a piece of foam on the end for blending the inks to create a soft look.
I also added a little Vintage Photo Distress Ink to give it a more vintage look.
I also took 3 scraps of paper from one of my favorite lines called Nook and Pantry by Basic Grey. You can piece together whatever leftovers you might have to create a different look. I glued two of my scraps together to create the right size for my tag and punched along the bottom with a Fiskars Apron Lace punch. You can also use pinking shears or tear the edge. I then inked the edge with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
I glued the 3 scraps to the tag.
I then took a light yellow mini ric rac and glued it across the overlaped edges of the scraps.
I then took my new Embroidered Floral Martha Stewart edge punch and punched across another scrap measuring around 2 x 4.
I then tore the edges and small sections of the scrap. I inked the torn edges with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.
I also added a little cupcake to the bottom corner made from a Martha Stewart punch and paper from the Nook and Pantry line. Use foam adhesive or pop dots to adhere the scrap and cupcake to add more deminsion.
I then inked and lightly colored the image of the girls and inked the Birthday piece with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I took another scrap and cut the edges at a slant to create a banner piece and adhere it to the tag with foam adhesive or pop dots. Then add ribbon to the tag and that's it!
A great way to use up your scraps and make something cute too!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
Have a crafty day, Lindsey

ReplyDeleteThanks for the neat tut. I've been working on tags myself here lately trying to be as clever as you girls !! It's not going to happen....I will post them when I finish the last couple.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I'll have to show this to my older granddaughters. I bet they could also use these directions to make a fun and cute tea party invitation or three. Thank you for this. :) I'm off to tweet it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tag and I love that paper! I really do need to get into my cupboard and start scrapbooking again...I feel like I'm loosing my creative touch. Heaven forbid! I'm afraid now that we've finally got some nice weather I'll be out mowing and pulling weeds this weekend though. Maybe the next rainy spell we have I'll go through my cupboard. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration girls....take care. Maura :)
ReplyDeleteLindsey, I'm probably like the only person left on the planet that doesn't know how to "do" distressing on tags. Can you email me with the exacts on how to do it, considering I'm not all that crafty. Like where to buy the supplies, the blender foam you talk about, how much to put on the edges, do you dilute the color, smear it, or what? I"m really clueless....

Stephanie
