Hello dear friends.
Easter is approaching quickly and we still have images we want to share with you!
This is a postcard that I got this year from 1911.
I have a weakness for little girls in pink dresses.
I have a weakness for little girls in pink dresses.
potholders for some time now.
I can hardly resist them when I see one at a flea market.
Most of them are very inexpensive and I so admire the workmanship
of the ladies who created them.
Some of my favorites are the ones that look like children's clothing.
I don't think they were used as much as they were made for decoration.
Isn't this watermelon cute?
I have finished another afghan. My son, Jordan, chose the colors and the pattern and it took me about two weeks to whip this one up.
Here is a close look at the stitch. This is a new-to-me stitch that I am really enjoying.
If any of you are interested, I'd be happy to share the pattern here. It's super simple and can be applied
to many projects.
It's been a pleasure to visit with you all today. Thank you for dropping in to see what we are
sharing today.
You all are so sweet to us and we appreciate each and every one of you!
Have a happy day!
Twyla

Such pretty things you are sharing once again today. I really like your afghan. The colors are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great collection of potholders. The little pink and blue dress and the watermelon are my favorites. In my previous house I hung similar photholders along the soffitt in my kitchen.
Happy Easter to you and your family.
Golly first of all I love that Afghan! I love the patterns and I love the colours. What neat work Twyla! Simply beautiful. It really is a pleasure to look at.
ReplyDeleteNow those little pot holders too. I have seen a Watermelon one before somewhere or other, but the others are just charming! I especially like the one with the flowers on. We have a couple of antique shops around here, but they never have anything like that there. It was really nice that you took a photo for all of us.
Lindseys work is just simply lovely too, as usual! Easy to understand tutorial she makes it all look so easy! I'm not a paper person however, I have tried, I have failed. Which is a shame because I wanted to master it. I find the papers in the UK are so expensive at the hobby shops too.
I think I'll stick to wool.
Really beautiful posts. I must apologise for not flying over to you lately. Been busy with the blankets as you can see!
Good work to both of you,
I hope you have a nice Easter break. I don't know what you celebrate over there. We have Good Friday (this week), Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. The girls are on holiday which I'm looking forward to.
Have a good break, Love your work as I usually do!
Kindest best wishes and hugs
Suex Hope everything is okay with you. x

ReplyDeleteI love these pot holders and never seen them to buy where i live, they are so nostalgic of times gone by. Thanks too for all the sweet images.
Marlies
Oh what pretties you have today! Thank you for sharing. Always fun to visit your blog. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteThe afghan is beautiful, your stitches are so perfect and uniform. You must have been doing this (crocheting) for a long, long time. I love those potholders and I have been looking for a pattern to make the little crocheted flowers, like the ones on the potholder that you showed. Thanks for sharing your collection.
ReplyDeleteLove the potholders....I have a pink and white one like your round red & white! They are so cute!
ReplyDeleteTwyla, Thank you for sharing your collection with us. I used to make dozens of the little dress ones, but can't find my patten for the life of me! That is a pretty stitch in your new afghan. Now when I am at antique fairs I always think of you when I see the oodles and oodles of postcards for sale. I'll remember, little girls in pink dresses. Perfectly you! Have a lovely week! E
ReplyDeleteThe little girl in pink is adorable. I love pink!
ReplyDeleteThose pot holders are wonderful. I especially adore the first one. It is so colorful.
Very talented...I love the looks of you current project.
I loved the potholders! So, so cute. I collect salt and peppers for the same reason. They are plentiful, cheap, made for decoration so are usually in pretty good shape! After seeing your potholders I may have to start scouting them out also!
ReplyDeleteTwyla amor, what a pretty image, thank you for sharing it :) I think these lil treasures are so cute, you know I think I have a couple lil bebe dolls outfits you might like, when I come across them I will let you know and they are yours :) Besos, Rose
ReplyDeleteLove your collection Twyla...my favorites are also the little clothing pieces....love your new afghan...blessings
ReplyDeleteAll the crochet pieces are just beautiful. I hope you're able to keep them out where they can be admired daily.
ReplyDeleteSherry @ A Happy Valentine
They're all so pretty - who doesn't love a good vintage potholder!
ReplyDeleteTwyla, I love your vintage potholder collection. I have a few (4 or 5) of the little dresses too. And I gave a few to my sister as a gift a couple of years ago. My sister has hers pinned to a mini clothesline on the wall of her laundry room. My laundry room is in the unfinished section of the basement, so I am not sure where/how to display mine.
