Today I am sharing a tutorial for making these silhouettes.
I created these using Valentine colors to tie into the holiday.
I hope you enjoy seeing them and making them also. I think they turned out really pretty!
Go around the back side of your oval with glue. I am using Aleene's Tacky glue which can be purchased at Wal Mart. This is the trickiest part. You want to make sure you have enough glue so that you can pleat your crepe paper but not so much that it squishes out. Start out lightly with the glue as you can add more as you go around.

Now, on to the tutorial for making these silhouettes.
Cut a 4 inch oval from cardstock.

Cut another oval slightly smaller.
You will need to have the cardstock glued to the song sheet music for stability.
Glue the sheet music to the pink cardstock oval.
Take your crepe paper and place it half on, half off the oval. Moving quickly, start to pinch the crepe paper as you add more going around the circle. It is okay if you're not evenly getting it distributed. You will trim it.
Here is what the back looks like after you have completely gone around the oval.

Let the glue dry for a few minutes. Now take your pinking shears and start cutting around your oval. Just slowly snip along the edges until it is all evened out. It does not have to be a perfect oval. As you can see in the photo below I trimmed about a third of crepe paper off.
You can find silhouettes to print by searching Victorian Silhouettes on Google images. If you would like the silhouettes that I used, email me as I have kits available!
Glue your silhouette to the middle of your oval.
O these are so beautiful! I cant wait to make them! Thank you so much for the tutorial!
