Barbie Wednesday

Hello Friends,
I want to show you this photo that you may remember from last year of my Suzy Goose Barbie furniture set. Suzy Goose created several pieces of beautiful Barbie furniture in the early 60's.
Some of the rarest pieces like a piano can sell for over $200.00 dollars on ebay. My Mom had the Ken wardrobe from her childhood that was from a garage sale. I always admired it and was happy to find out that there were so many more pieces of furniture!

I have slowly collected the pieces you see above from ebay.

I was thrilled to see this ad for Tarina Tarentino's Barbie inspired Jewelry line that was popular last year. I don't know how I missed this ad but isn't it neat how they used the vanity?

If you are a Twilight fan like me, then you will be thrilled to learn that the Twilight Barbie and Ken dolls will be released on November 12.

I love looking at the old Barbie booklets that had been included in the boxes and catalogs from the 60's.

Here is a poster for the Bild Lilli doll that inspired Ruth Handler to create Barbie.

Isn't this poster cool? I found it on allposters.com.

I like to think that no matter how many times the Barbie doll gets reinvented that people will always remember her with her ponytail!

Another cool version of this style poster. For the fortieth anniversary for Barbie.

Happy midweek, Lindsey

  5. I love seeing all the original Barbie furniture, again! (Thanks!) The neighbor girl I played with when I was a smitch had EVERTHING "Barbie." As soon as Mattel could pop out something new, she had it. I was in Heaven with her treasure trove! One of my favorite sounds from childhood is me scraping Barbie's plastic dressing table over my friend's Formica kitchen table as we rearranged her bedroom setting! Love it-- thank you for the memories!

  17. Did you know that Forks is in Washington State? I've been there and visited many times. My daughter Kara loves the Twilight series and couldn't put it down. They are already coming out with a Barbie/Ken set for Twilight? My goodness, life spins on by sometimes faster than an old 45 record. I have a little gift for you Lindsey. If you email me your address I'll get it packaged and onwards...

  18. Lindsey, I had the white wardrobe and bed. Thanks for the sweet memories! I have bought an album for the pages you are making me. You have inspired me to try and create a first page - I need a photograph first! A whole 12x12 seems so intimidating. A lesson on your blog would be super! Have a great rest of week! E

  24. Hi Lindsey
Your Suzy Goose furniture is lovely. It reminds me very much of the Sindy dressing table and wardrobe that I have that's from around 1977 time.
I love those Twilight dolls and know someone who will definately want them

  25. Wow! So excited to see the 60's Susy Goose Barbie furniture that I had as a child (and still have). I especially loved my wardrobe which has amazingly survived 5 floods and 2 fires. I also have the original black haired pony tail Barbie and the first Skipper doll. I loved them so much I took exceptional care of them and don't think I could ever part with them, especially since they too have been very blessed to have survived so many hardships along with me. Would love to find some other pieces to replace those that didn't survive.
