Tuesday has come again and it is still raining. We have been getting lots of rain here in S.W. Missouri. Many areas are flooding. I am going to be so happy to see the sun shine again!
You may remember that I've said one of the things I look for in antique stores are sewing machine drawers.
I thought I would show you my arrangement of drawers. One of the nice things about them is you can stack them and make shelves.
I have a collection of tiny books that I have bought at garage sales, usually for 50 cents each. I think they look cute mixed in with my small collectibles.
This is a few items I picked up this Sunday when we went to some antique stores. I love postcards and these old pictures call to me. I always love old sewing notions.
This little red riding hood planter has been calling my name every time I visit this particular antique store. I thought it was about the cutest planter I've ever seen.
She was always more than I could spend, but this Sunday there was a sale at the booth and my dear son thought the time was right. I was so excited to walk out with this precious treasure.

She is marked Napco 1956 on the bottom. I've looked on ebay for her and never seen one.
As Lindsey and I have been working on our craft room we have discovered some things that we'd forgotten. This was an afghan that I started 2 or 3 years ago. I decided that it was large enough and besides, Red Heart has discontinued this color pink. So I chose a pretty new color aqua and put a border around it. Now I have a pretty new afghan with very little work.
I wanted to say thank you to all who left sweet comments last week on my post about our dogs. You can probably tell that my dogs are very close to my heart. Muffin came along when we lost our beloved Buffy and he was just what we needed to heal our hearts. He is so special to us. Spencer was a puppy when we got him. Such times you go through with puppies! He chewed Everything! I always thought that once we got through those puppy years he'd be a good dog and now we are seeing that come true. He is a sweetheart.

I wish for all my dear friends a wonderful week! Twyla
How creative you are to make shelves out of the sewing machine drawers! I love your displayed items, too, and the things you got this weekend. That Little Red Riding Hood planter is too cute.Did I read one time that you look for Collins purses? I had one when I was a teen - "Glamour Puss". It finally broke. I bought a canvas one on Ebay last year, but I am still looking for a "G.P." in good condition and at the right price.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Sarita
Love how you've displayed your sewing machine drawers, and the tiny goodies within ... Darling!
ReplyDeleteIsn't your Red Riding Hood planter adorable with the mean wolf peeking out! Very sweet of your son to buy it for you ... I'm sure you'll treasure it for many years to come ...
Beautiful color choices on your new afghan ... and I'm totally in love with the Vintage embroidered pillow ~ swoons ~ ... I'm praying for sunny days to find you soon! Hope you're doing well, Twyla ... Thinking of you ...

ReplyDeleteOh Twyla, we are so tired of the cloudy skies, too! You'd think we were living in Forks!
ReplyDeleteYour sewing machine drawers are so cool and the way you have stacked them has given me an idea! Thanks! I'm so thankful for you, my blogging sister! ♥ (I never have found a shelf that will fit right in my craft room but now I think I know what I can do!) I think your shelves are arranged very sweetly, too! ♥
Glad you got your planter! She's a real doll. (Yay Jordan!) Isn't it exciting when what we want goes down in price!? The thrill of the hunt!
How funny that you discovered an afghan that you had forgotten! I'm not there yet. I move too often! It's a very pretty afghan, Twyla. How wonderful that you can make such a warm and comforting piece of art! I love my old afghans although they aren't as pretty as yours, they do keep me warm.
My kitties bring me so much joy so I understand about your puppies. My house kitty is VERY intrigued with my room rearranging and she's so excited when i open my door in the morning so she can go in and look some more!
We're going to try and have a movie day here today. Bobby can hardly stay awake on these pain meds but we're going to try! We haven't had a movie in a long time and we miss it!
Hope you have a sunny day soon! ♥
Hi Girl! We finally had some sun yesterday and I worked in the yard until I couldn't move anymore! I hope you get it soon too.

ReplyDeleteWell, I never thought of using those sewing drawers that way! I think I'll drag mine back out of the attic now! And I'm so glad that Little Red Riding Hood came home with you this time! I just bought an old LRRH doll at the flea market. I don't know why, but she called to me, so I had to have her. Sometimes there's no explaining what attracts us, is there?!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

I love the dark wood and the cozy feel of those drawers. I have a log cabin bedroom and I think they are just the right thing to add to the warmth. Toss in some old game boards, some of my old primitive raggedy dolls and a braided rug and we'll hunker down for autumn. Blessings for September. Thanks for your faithfulness in posting on my blog.
ReplyDeleteYou two are SO creative. I love reading about all the nifty things you create and your incredible finds! Looking forward to Barbie Wednesday tomorrow! :)
