Barbie Wednesday

Hello friends!

I always look forward every year to see the newest Barbie ornaments by Hallmark. I have been collecting them for years!

This year was a great line that included this one called, Campus Sweetheart.

The Barbie is an American Girl from 1964. One of my favorite styles!

In the past couple years, Hallmark has released ornaments that look like vintage Barbies in their original boxes. How clever! I love this style and look forward to adding this Bubble Cut style doll to my collection.

I think this Ken is pretty funny and cute!

He is called, Campus Hero and would be the perfect match to the Campus Sweetheart ornament.

Each year, Hallmark comes out with at least one ornament dedicated to shoes.

While the shoe trees were my favorite style, this shoe ornament is very cool!

Twyla Tuesday

Hello ladies!

I wanted to share with you a gift that I gave

Lindsey for her birthday last week.

I wanted to create a painting or collage for her

and thought about her style.

I knew right away that a color block style would

be perfect.

Using painter's tape I marked off the stripes to make the job

easier.  It was easy choosing the colors.  The two small

boxes in the lower left side are two of her favorite colors  

and the main color scheme of her party.

I am very happy to say that she loved the painting!

As you know, we feel birthdays are special and deserve

to be celebrated! 

We have certainly enjoyed sharing your birthdays this

year on our blog.  We want to thank all of you who have

shared your birth date and all those who stopped by and wished

the birthday girl a happy day. 

We will be calling for the December birthdays soon and plan

to continue the tradition next year.

Victorian Christmas Album

Hello friends!

Have you started thinking about Christmas yet?

I created this Christmas paper bag album last week and played a couple Christmas cds as I worked to get in the mood.

I wanted a Victorian theme for this book and was happy that I found this lovely paper collection by K & Co at Michaels.

I mixed a few sheets of Graphic 45 Christmas paper to fill this album up.

I love having pockets on my pages. I think it gives the pages a more layered and busy look that really appeals to me.

I am looking forward to this upcoming Christmas season, when Mom and I will share our ideas for this season here on our blog, for our 3rd annual Sugar Kissed Christmas!

I am also looking forward to making fudge, wrapping presents and baking Mom's favorite Butter Cookies that we shared the recipe for in our second blog post back in 2007!

A Vintage Birthday Card and a Party!

I want to thank everyone that wished me

 a Happy Birthday this past Monday!

I was looking through one of my vintage card boxes and thought this one was so sweet! A special birthday card to a Mom!

I am now 23 years old. I don't feel any different.

 Some years I do, some I don't.

 I know I will never be too old for a fun Hello Kitty themed Birthday table!

Barbie Wednesday

Hello friends!

It's Barbie Wednesday again and this week I want to talk about Barbie's little sister, Skipper.

I have always been found of Skipper dolls. I love her long hair, cute face and flat feet! She originally came out in 1964, wearing a red and white striped bathing suit, red shoes, gold elastic headband and brush set.

Her full name is, Skipper Roberts. She was 9 1/4 inches tall and came in 3 different hair colors.

As I mentioned last week, I love collecting the cases and houses as much as I do the dolls! So when I came across Skipper's Dream Room case on ebay, I had to have it! The best part is her sweet bed with a matching bedspread and pillows!

Hello ladies!

One thing you might not know about me

is that I am a wanderlust.  I love hitting the highway

and exploring new areas.

I had the recent pleasure of discovering this gem in

my own state!

It is a 17th century church originally built in London, England!

It was painstakingly dismantled and transported to

Fulton, Missouri in the 1960's.

The name of the church is The Church of St. Mary of Aldermanbury.

It was twice destroyed by fire and bombed during WWII.

In 1946 Winston Churchill came to Westminster College

in Fulton, MO and gave a speech.

It was suggested that the church be reconstructed here

as a monument to that occasion.

It was dismantled and every piece numbered to move to

it's new location.  By the time it arrived it was all mixed up

and it was like putting together a jigsaw puzzle.

There is a museum built below the church that we

also toured.  It was so very awe inspiring.

The inside has been beautifully rebuilt and I was

in awe of the woodcarving.

These columns were amazing as you can still see the cracks

where they were broken from the bombing.

It was a very fascinating trip and if you ever get

a chance to go to Fulton, don't miss this

extraordinary treasure.

Vintage Autumn Mini Album

Hello friends!

I have been obsessed with My Mind's Eye paper this week!

I love their Lost and Found collections!

The first collection is available now at Hobby Lobby and the Lost and Found Two is at scrapbook stores.

I took the Rosy line (the top one in the above photo) and mixed it with Crate Paper's Farmhouse paper line to create this Fall themed mini album.

I loved how perfect the paper lines coordinated with each other.

I filled this album with lots of pockets.

Pockets are also a great way to fill up an empty page.

I added a few vintage graphics and lots of paper flowers

 to add more details to the album.

I cut the chipboard for this album 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 so that I didn't have to cut the paper down any.

I then cut and bound the book using my Cinch book binder.

New Crafty Supplies

Hello friends!

Today, I wanted to share with you some goodies that caught my eye on a recent trip

to my local scrapbook store, Scrapbook Generations.

I have already been working on a Fall themed mini album using new paper from My Mind's Eye's Lost and Found Two collection.

I mixed it with this lovely fall paper line called, Farmhouse by Crate Paper.

I was also checking out some of the new Christmas paper lines to find pretty pink and red patterns to use in projects for our 3rd Sugar Kissed Christmas blogging event.

These patterns are also by Crate Paper.

I loved the warm, cozy feel of this Christmas line by Simple Stories.

I also picked up this ephemera pack by a company called, Glitz Design. I also bought a few coordinating paper patterns from the line called, Vintage Blue.

I just loved this button card patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket's Clementine line!

I can't wait to make cards with these!

Barbie Wednesday

Hello friends!

Yep! It's back!

I needed a little break from the Barbie posts but now they're back!

So feel free to post with me on Wednesday's if you would like to share something from the world of Barbie and let me know, so I can visit you!

My favorite vintage Barbie item to collect is actually the cases!

I know that sounds crazy, but I love them and the houses, too!

This case is a 1963 round hat box style case. It features a Bubble Cut Barbie and her best friend, Midge.

I love these round style cases! I have 3 different ones, but am unsure of how many different ones were made. I have seen so many rare colored cases and prototypes out there in the vintage Barbie world that it makes me hope I will find more someday!

Here is one of the other two I have. I love how both these cases share a similar color scheme of aqua, pink and yellow! Perfect!

I found this cute little Davy Crockett planter at an antique store recently.

It is not the kind I usually collect, but it was so cute!  I couldn't resist!

I believe it is made by Napco. 

I created the art piece below.  I call it Home Sweet Home.

It evolved over the process of making it.  It started out with a totally

different idea, but as I began painting this is what came of it.

I believe that it conveys the peaceful home under the night sky.
