I have not thought about her for years, I have a redheaded Skipper in my attic. My Mom got me Skipper when in fact everyone but me had a Ken and that's what I wanted. My Mom did not think it was appropriate to have a Ken! Oh cripes, she thought maybe they would do something bad! ha!

CarolThe Polka Dot Closethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04509900941899875184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7263106909888880829.post-47697510142336078902010-05-22T21:07:32.597-05:002010-05-22T21:07:32.597-05:00I love my Batbie family! I'm one of those who never had a Barbie doll growing up...don't know why but no one ever bought me one. I think I was 14 when the little neighbor girl next door gave me one of her old ones...I think she felt sorry for me! Anyway...thanks for the info..it's interesting. It starred the incredible Inger Stevens as Katy Holstrum, a young Minnesota woman who becomes the housekeeper for widowed Congressman Glen (played by wonderful William Windom) and his two young sons. I adored the beautiful, Swedish-accenty Ingrid! And if I couldn't be her, or if she couldn't be my mom, or my housekeeper, OR even just a nice lady my aunt and I would run into when we grocery shopped, I went for the next best thing. When Skipper was introduced in 1964, I "made her be" Katy Holstrum as a child back in the the Old Country! I sewed little, white smocks for her to wear over her dresses, because I thought it was the way to go, and even made a cottage bed out of the box she came, complete with feather mattresses (<-- tons of doubled-over Kleenex)! Of course, when I "talked" her, I could only do it in my head. I couldn't have my family hearing "Katy" do her ridiculous Swedish accent! LOL! Tack så mycket for bringing a fond, Skippery memory-moment back to me!SparkleFarkelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07354679950013636478noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7263106909888880829.post-79038761288549552992010-05-19T08:49:08.113-05:002010-05-19T08:49:08.113-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.SparkleFarkelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07354679950013636478noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7263106909888880829.post-11878685559485742702010-05-19T08:05:22.443-05:002010-05-19T08:05:22.443-05:00That's my Skipper in the first pic!
