Twyla On Tuesday - Reading

Hello friends!
As I've mentioned, my New Year's
resolution was to read more.
I used to love reading, but over the years
lost the time it takes to devote to reading.

I have a couple of stacks waiting for me to get through
them.  I am a slow reader.  I suppose I could pick up
my speed, but I really love to languish over each sentence
and listen to how the writer expresses themselves.

I don't have a Kindle or a Nook.  I love books!
I like to turn the pages and have a book to slip
back in the bookcase to remember when I'm done.

Since I haven't read for awhile, I would love
your input as to what books you have read and
would recommend that I read.  Just tell me in the
comment section.  I would really love to know
what books you all like!

I like inspirational, self help, biographies,
history, as well as fiction.
I am keeping a notebook to write down each book
I read this year and how it made me feel and favorite
quotes from it.

I love home libraries and thought it would be fun to
share some of my favorite ones I've seen on
Pinterest.

Thanks for sharing part of your day with me.
Have a wonderful week!
Love, Twyla

Vintage Baby Mini Album

Hello friends!
I created a mini album this week with a sweet vintage baby theme!

I used paper by October Afternoon from their Ducks In a Row line with lots of flowers and doilies

I also added vintage baby cards from my collection, printed on cardstock.

I loved the light colors of this line and how well in coordinated with the colors of my vintage cards.

The cute little ducks are from the paper line matched so well with the baby theme!

I used a vintage card image on this page to create a pocket page.

The album base is paper bags.
I love making paper bag albums because they are such an easy base for a mini album
and look great with vintage papers!
I listed this album for sale on ebay.

Today's valentine is super sweet with this little girl and her puppy!

Wishing you a lovely day, Lindsey

Paper Crafting and Valentine

Hello friends!
It's been awhile since I made a tag,
so last night I created this cute girly tag using paper scraps from October Afternoon's Ducks In a Row paper line and a vintage pattern image.
If your like us, you can't bare to throw away even the smallest paper scraps,
so tags are the perfect way to use them up!

Today's valentine is so cute!
I love this little pigtailed girl picking peaches.

Wishing you a beautiful day, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday - Recent Finds

Hello!
It's been some time since I showed some
of my finds!
This weekend I traveled to the St. Louis area and
picked up these treasures.  One of my favorite
collectibles is motto prints.  Many of these are to
'Mother'.  This one is by the artist Marygold.  Her's
are always my favorites.  Incidently, this artist never
became a mother.  Her images are always so sweet.
She also does artwork under the name Tsanya.

I spotted this old scrapbook cover standing
on a shelf.  I love anything from this era.  It didn't
bother me a bit that it was only the cover.  It was
too pretty and I started thinking how I could display
it or even create a journal myself using this as the cover.

I was even more thrilled with it when I turned it over
and found items that the original owner had glued to the other
side!  Was it 'Mollie's' or 'Leona's', two names mentioned
on the cards.  Maybe those were 'her' best friends.
Did they stay in touch all their lives?  Were they
always there for each other?  Oh, I ponder the lives
of the people mentioned on the old ephemera I find.
Do you?

The date on one of the cards read 'Sept. 17th 1883'
Items like these are just priceless to me.
The small price tag for gold.

Another old treasure was this photo album.  These
are often in rough shape, but the small size of this one
made it so charming.  There is only one picture left
inside.  I am thinking of filling it with postcards.

Here's today's valentine!

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my finds.
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a wonderful day!
Love, Twyla

Playtime!

Hello friends!
I've been playing in my paper stash and
created this paperbag album last week.

I used the Sidewalks line by October Afternoon. I didn't have much embellishments leftover from the line so I hand cut out cute little images of boys and girls from a sheet of one of the patterned papers.

I mixed in paper from October Afternoon's Fly A Kite line, which matched perfectly to have enough to complete my mini book.

The sheet of rose paper was my favorite from the line. They were easy to cut out and look great for any theme!

For all of my photo mats I always ink the edges. I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink to give them a nice aged finish.

I used my newst border punch by Jenni Bowlin on this page.
I really love how fun and different it is from all of my lace border punches.

Today's vintage valentine!

Wishing you happiness, Lindsey

Steampunk Mini Album

Hello friends!
I've had a pack of Steampunk Debutante paper by Graphic 45 in my stash for awhile now and I finally decided to get it out and make a new mini album.

Do you like the steampunk style?
The mix of Victorian beauty and romance with the mechanical fantasy style?

I think it is a fascinating combination!
I loved that this paper line came with so many great Victorian style graphics to cut out for a lovely whimsical style.

I mixed in lots of Tim Holtz metal embellishments, such as this mini key and pearl baubles.

I ran across a cool bag full of antique clock hands at an antique store recently that matched perfectly with the theme of!

The rich colors of this line were also really nice to work with. I don't usually use these colors but I found that it jump started my creativity by working with something so different.

I also found great steampunk style embellishments at Hobby Lobby
from Jolee's embellishments.
This album is for sale here on ebay.

This sweet little valentine comes from 1938.

Wishing you a most wonderful day, Lindsey

Playing With My Markers

Hello freinds!
I have been making cards lately! I enjoy the coloring process using Copic markers and I like how quickly I can have a finished item!
This card uses a Sugar Kissed Cottage digi stamp from my shop. I picked out colors of markers that would coordinate with my paper and started coloring.
When I was a child, my favorite thing in the world was coloring books. I wanted every one I could find! I had an addiction!  I just coudn't wait to get out my crayons and play!
I get a similar feeling now when I sit down to color in these images.
 It's very relaxing!

The paper I used for this card is from October Afternoon's Sidewalks line.
I adore the bright spring colors and vintage feel this line has.
You can find it here on amazon.

Here is today's valentine!
I love this little couple! Aren't they too cute in their car?

Wishing you a lovely day, Lindsey
