Twyla on Tuesday

Hello Friends!
I've had a busy week with cousins from out of state.
Cousins who love antiques as much as I do!
Which means I've been out on day trips 4 out of 7 days!
I'm not complaining!

One of my sweet finds is this kitty planter.

This very pretty little pitcher was just right
to hold some of my paint brushes.

I was just really taken with this little luncheon cloth
that some woman in a time past, painstakingly
cut, pieced, appliqued and blanket stitched.

She used feed sack in such pretty calicos and the
black stitching frames them all so nicely.

I really appreciate her hard work on this and admire
her crafting abilities.  It would be wonderful to know
what occasion she made it for and what her inspiration was.
I just wish she'd have had a blog so she could have said,
"Look what I made this week!"
Guess that's where I come in, showing off her
lovely work.

Thanks for visiting with me today!
You all mean so much to me!
Love, Twyla

Odds & Ends

Hello friends!
We would like to wish you and your family
 a Happy Memorial Day!

One of my favorite scrapbooking companies is Cosmo Cricket.
They have just released their mid season release and I just might have to declare this line my favorite Cosmo paper ever!
 It's called Odds & Ends.

I created this tag for a friend the day I received the new line.
I will happily create new projects with it all week!

It is a lovely line filled with lovely colors and antique patterns.

I highly recommend this line!

This lovely alphabet sampler is one of my favorite patterns!

My Creative Space: Crowded Attic

Hello friends!
Today in my Creative Space I want to tell you about a great new paper pad I purchased this week. It's called, Crowded Attic and it's by Tim Holtz.
As you can probably tell by the name, it is full of lovely antique patterns.
The best part is, you can find it at Michaels and get it with a coupon!
Michaels has redone their Tim Holtz section and added a lot of new goodies from Tim! You can also find it here on Amazon.

This journal I created using paper from the Crowded Attic paper.
I added a vintage crocheted flower from my stash and a fun trinket pin to the cover.

Mini canvases are also a favorite item in my craft room right now!
I love all the possibilities these minis can hold!

You can find these items here in our etsy shop!

Fairy Tags

Hello friends!
Today I am sharing fairy tags!
One of my favorite scrapbook companies, Graphic 45 released a line earlier this Spring called, Once Upon A Springtime.

It's filled with sweet fairies, flowers and bunnies!

The lovely paper inspired me to create these tags.
The tags in the photos above and below also feature embossing folders by Tim Holtz. I love the woodgrain effect in the tag below.

For all of these tags I hand dyed the seam binding to match the paper. I use Hug Snug White seam binding that comes in large rolls.

These Tags are available here in our etsy shop.

What can I say?
Joplin is my kind of town.
It's one of our favorite playgrounds.
We go there to shop at some of our favorite
antique stores and eat at some of our favorite restaurants.

Range Line Road, if you can imagine, is miles of enticements
from Michael's, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's to Cheddar's, Freddy's, and
the best Golden Corral.
It is breaking our hearts to see Joplin suffering after
one of the most devastating tornadoes in Missouri history.

The death toll is climbing higher.
Over 2000 buildings destroyed.
30% of the town destroyed.
Peoples' faith . . .  strong!

Please pray for these people who are in
great shock, grief and need.
Thank you for visiting and caring for the
people of Joplin.
Love, Twyla

Giveaway Winner!

Hello friends!

Drumroll please!
The winner of the, Are You Happy? Journal is....

Suzann of Shabby ESP! Congrats Suzann!

I was inspired over the weekend to create a journal themed around our favorite pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow!

I had fun playing with different ways I could distress this cover.
So I decided to rip a section out of the top and corset stitch it up.

A fun journal for writing down family adventures or your favorite quotes
 from the movies.  Savvy?!

Wishing you a happy Monday, Lindsey

Pink Saturday

To all our dear friends,
a pretty pink rose postcard from 1909.

Keep track of the beauty in this day.
Take a photo, write it in a journal, share it
with others.

This is an actual picture postcard from the
early 1900's.
I don't know her name, but she and her
best friend certainly capture my heart.

Our souls need expression.
Investigate your creative talent!

Have a happy Pink Saturday!

My Creative Space: 5 and Dime

Hello friends!
Lately Mom and I have been in the art and paint section at our craft stores. Exploring different mediums to play with.
My latest fun find is these little mini canvas that comes with it's own easel.

For my canvas, I first painted around the edges in a soft pink and then covered it with paper and embellishments. One of my favorite new embellishments right now are these star shaped stick pins. They are by Maya Road and come in a  set of both white and yellow stars.

For both my canvas and my next project that I want to share with you, I created using October Afternoon's 5 and Dime line. I am in love with this paper!
So pretty!
This layout I created using childhood photos of Mom.

Wasn't she a cutie?

Wishing you a happy day, Lindsey

Hello lovely ladies!
It's been beauty shop time at our house.
No, not Lindsey nor I, but our babies have
all been groomed!

This is Muffin, our bolognese.  He looks a lot like
a maltese when his fur is long.  He is the sweetest
little thing and has his mommy wrapped around his
little paw.

This is Spencer, our poodle.
Doesn't he look beautiful?
Just look at those ears!  They've been
combed out and fluffed.

Spencer was supposed to be a toy poodle when we got
him.  When he kept growing to 20 lbs, we forgave him.
He minds better than our other two and has Lindsey
wrapped around his paw.

Barney (on the right), is our bichon.  We have had
him almost a year now.  He was so matted the pet
beautician had to shave him down to nothing.
I look forward to seeing his fur again.
We brought Barney home from a rescue center last June 1st.
When we saw him in the cage we fell in love with
him and knew he was ours.
Barney has my husband and I wrapped around
his little paw.

They bring a lot of love and enjoyment to our home.
Thank you for indulging me and allowing me
to pull out the pictures and brag.

Wishing you much happiness!
Twyla
