This is my pink Christmas tree. It's 7 1/2 feet. It's huge in my room but I love it! It was a Christmas present a few years back. Although it has a mixture of new and vintage ornaments I mainly display my collection of Hallmark Barbie ornaments.
Do you like the feathers as the topper? My Brother came up with that cool idea. I love it!

I love collecting these beautiful ornaments. The vintage ones are my favorite! No suprise there!

I use to get the Christmas Barbie ornament every year from my grandmother so that is when I started building my collection.

This is how it looks in the dark. Magical. I wish you could be here right now to look at it with me!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my Barbie tree!

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving,

It is the week to be thankful. I have met some wonderful people this year through this blog and I am very thankful for that. I want to thank all of you who left such sweet comments on my last post.

One of my new friends, Lindsay Ann from the Cross Stitch House, gave us an award. Thank you so much Lindsay. We are supposed to list 5 things we love and, like Lindsay, I am going to name five things I love about Christmas.

1. Butter cookies that I have been eating every Christmas since I was a little girl.
2. Hallmark ornaments that I have collected since 1978.
3. The schnitzel and noodles that is our traditional Christmas Eve dinner.
4. My kids opening their presents.
5. Giving my house shoes as gifts

This is a scarf that I made for our new Lollishop, Fancy That. Kathy of Kathy’s Crochet Cabin, ask to see this scarf, so this is for you, Kathy. If you have not met Kathy yet, stop by her blog. She donates her time and talents to helping out charitable organizations. I have a great respect for this special lady.

I also made a couple of these ear warmers from a vintage pattern.

I have always used Red Heart Super Saver yarn for my house shoes because it holds up so well and comes in great colors. The only beef I have with them is that they discontinue colors. I discovered just this week that one of my favorite colors to make house shoes is no longer on the shelves . . . anywhere. Very disappointing. I have one shoe made that may never have a mate.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. I am thinking of some of you who are going through some hard times right now. I want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Wishing all of you and your families a most blessed Thanksgiving.

Tagged!

Lindsey and I was tagged by Tammy of Art and Inspirations to list 8 things about ourselves. I will accept the challenge of doing this. I was also inspired by Suzie Button who told 100 things about herself on a recent post. I found it very interesting.

1. I have a goal. I want my face on a Smucker’s jar. Okay, the real goal is to live to be 100, but the shining achievement would be to have my face on that jar of jam with Willard Scott saying, “Here we have, Twyla, she just turned 100. She still enjoys knitting, crocheting and going to flea markets. She says the reason she stays so young is her friends she meets on the blogs she reads daily”.

2. We owe our blogging to Angie of Quilly Silly. I used to look at ebay listings of paper piecing artists and she was one of my favorites. One day I was looking at one of her listings and down at the bottom of the page was a ‘button’ that said My Blog. I clicked on that button and my life has never been the same! Thank you, Angie!

3. From a very young age I have wanted to be a writer. I wish I had explored that dream instead of just dreaming about it.

4. I have been married for almost 30 years to the Same man. He is very patient of me and my collecting. Every time we have moved, he has had one cardboard box of personal items and there are truckloads of my accumulations. One time I woke up very early so that I could take a couple of car loads (seriously) of my magazines over to the new place so that he didn’t have to move them.

5. Because my husband was in the service when we got married, I got to live in Germany for almost 2 years. I loved every minute of it. It is a beautiful country and dream of going back there someday. Because of that experience, I now like to collect all things made in Germany (of course).

6. I am an only child. My biggest regret in life is that I never had a sister, but I have had Susan my best friend since she was 3 and I was 6.

7. I am an imposter. I couldn’t post a blog if I tried. I write my posts on Microsoft word, take my pictures and then Lindsey posts them for me. I am not computer savvy at all.

8. I don’t like wearing a bra. That’s about the first thing that comes off when I get home from work.

Lindsay Ann of The Cross Stitch House, approached me about a magazine swap after I talked about my love of magazines in a post. I thought that would be a great idea. I sent her a magazine and thought it would be fun to send along a surprise as well, so I made her and her daughter house shoes. Little did I know that Lindsay was sending me a special surprise, too! Not only did I get a terrific magazine, (all the pictures in this post are beautiful pages from the magazine) but she also made me a pretty bag that is great for storing my yarn and knitting projects in. She also sent Lindsey a History of Barbie magazine. Lindsay is a very sweet and special lady and has a great blog. Thank you Lindsay for being so generous.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Next year is Barbie's 50th Anniversary! To celebrate they are coming out with this Silkstone Barbie wearing an updated version of the original black & white striped swimsuit.

The American girl Barbie is one of the most desirable. A very small amount of the American girl's were made with there hair parted on the side with a blue headband. One of the side part American Girls can sell for thousands of dollars. These pictures are of the reproduced Side part that came out last year by Mattel.

The vintage Barbie green & blue prom dress has always been a very popular piece of Barbie's wardrobe but She also had this gorgeous pink one!

This vintage reproduction is of an American girl in her pink prom dress being named Campus queen of course!

Barbie & Skipper use to knit. This is a reproduction new this year featuring the "Knitting Pretty" #0957 . Which originally came out in 1964.

I would love to have this dress in my size! The colors are sugary sweet & I love the Barbie print.

This is an older photo of one my vintage Barbie houses. It has a long cord & tab at the top to make the elevator move up & down. I have some of my inflatable Barbie furniture that I picked up at a garage sale a few years ago.

Christmas is coming! FAST! And I have a very special tree to put up in my room that every year I display my collection of Barbie Hallmark ornaments on. I can't wait to show it to you! Here a few of the ornaments that will be on my tree.

Thank you for stopping by today! I leave you with this cute commercial from the early seventies.

I am getting old – er. I try not to obsess about it, but I hear the whispers when I walk in a room. “She’s showing her age.” Or “She colors her hair.” The mirror confirms it. Time is a terrible beautician. The clock ticks and the collagen weakens. It takes twice as long to look half as good.

It’s not just the outward appearance either. I wish I could remember half of what I think I know and where I put it. My mind often wanders and then sometimes it doesn’t come back. You know it’s funny, I don’t remember being absent minded.

It’s not just looking older that bothers me, it’s the passage of time. I just want to be able to continue doing what I love to do with the people that mean so much to me. I am very aware of time that each moment is special and should be fully lived.

I am very driven to create and part of that reason may be to leave part of me here or to just reach out to people who I know I will never get to meet. The world is full of beautiful people who I know I would love. Blogging is an opportunity to, in a small way, meet those wonderful people.

Well, I’ve been afraid of changing cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder children get older
I’m getting older too. ~ Stevie Nicks

Wishing you much happiness.
